Technix is an unknown quantity at this point
Fable, that was one looooong post, and very well worded. But I'll break it down for everyone...

I don't intend to break into the scene to get gigs. I just mix for fun. Though it's a hobby, and at one time long ago I was interested in getting a big break, I didn't have the time or the willpower to go all the way. I had a few shows which I'm sure a few people on this board can vouch for me on (i.e. Event Horizon, The Vibe, OSN2 pre-party way back in '01) but nothing to establish me as a local DJ by any means. As you can understand, working full time and also going to school working towards my Chartered Insurance Professional designation - it doesn't leave much time for anything else.

Sure my website looks professional and all, but it's not a portfolio and it doesn't scream "book me!!!" because that's not its real intention. What I am intending to do is build a rather sizeable electronic music library, update a chart of all the latest electonic music that's hot right now, set up shop to expand the music library, provide some promotional tools such as mix and track hosting for local DJs and producers, and so forth. It is an electronic music site, not a DJ/producer profile.

And to Swing Kids, nothing I said should be taken in its literal form, but to say that SWING KIDS IS THE ONLY PLACE THAT WOULD PROVIDE ME THE BIG BREAK (if I was looking for the big break in the first place) is false. Trying to big note yourself is also a true shot to those DJs who are WANTING to move up and consider submitting their demo to your organization for a gig. I think you failed to acknowledge that this was also a shot at all the promoters whom you work with in the industry - and we all wonder why the scene is becoming so divided again.

I don't take anything personal on here whatsoever, and it's not about picking battles. It's about not letting it bother you. People should know by now that I'm chill like that and wouldn't rag on a promoter or even pick a fight, at the end of the day it's all the same...words in cyberspace.

If someone disliked me or hated me it would be well said to my face rather than a forum post, but I don't want to give people the misconception that I am actually looking to break into the scene as a DJ or producer. The real fact is: I DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR THE WILLPOWER FOR IT. So please people, put this aside and look at my website efforts as a promotion for electronic music in BC and to help others out, please.

This is probably the longest post I've made ever, but realize I'm not looking to join the DJ/producer collective...I'm only looking to enjoy it as a partygoer.

I agree....and actually I was the same way back in the day...and when the people who bitched at me when I was a newb saw me in person, and swa my raging muscles..yeah, they shut up. hahaah...well, that is also cause I smartened up too. But point is, fighting on FnK is what the drama and party life/hype is all about and should not be taken personally. It is all in good fun, and most people just bullshit when they pick on someone. That is one step everyone has to overcome. :) Now, I have to have dinner :)

I never said Swing Kids was the one company from which you would get your big break. I said I, seperate from Swing Kids manage the one event a year that promotes DJ's getting out of their bedrooms and onto a stage, which is Apex.

As a promoter, when I see a DJ who is trying to promote themselves take the insults to another level and try and either belittle a person or physically threaten them, for something that was said on the internet, it makes me not want to book them.

And Technix, you can say you aren't trying to promote yourself, but your self made website would indicate otherwise. And yes, I did read it.

you can remix the hamster dance to like hard house or something...but sandstorm you can never remix because it will always sound the same...take for instance 'Darude' when he came to IMF 2003...he fucking licked balls...cuz that was all you heard that night was 'sandstorm' 'sandstorm' 'sandstorm' and more fucking 'sandstorm' to make you want to kill yourself :( Thank god Johan Gielen kicked his ass, and so I gave him a hi-5 when he came down to the front row to greet his loving fans =)

i want to add, i read the "history of technixonline, how did it all start".. uh dude, it hasnt even started yet.. and by reading the "history", you go on about what your name is on what boards you post...

Quote:
"JB then opened up the website "Technix Online" in December 2005 with the goal of providing electronic music to the masses, to help newcomers to the scene promote thier music and talent, and to educate people in the different types of electronic music."
how can you do this if you're a newbie yourself????
