got tree?

theres been a lot of contraversy this year with this said tree and its proposed name.

is it a christmas tree? a holiday tree? or my personal favorite, a dead tree.

any of you get a tree this year? i got one, it smells delish, is covered in multicolored LED lights and resides beside the fireplace!

:) i love little trees! in fact i brought one with me all the way from Ukraine, when i moved here in 1997, i was 14, and it was so hard to let go lol. it was my little all time fav tree! my dad got it for me, you could never tell its fake [i guess the 100$ american in 96' paid off the looking fake part].

well this year, my bf and i went to my parents' house to get it, and he laughed so hard at it... saying wtf is that? that’s not a xmas tree lol he said...
he said don’t worry about it, i will get us a nice tree. so he brought home 8.5 feet xmas tree, now i have this massive huge, nice smelling tree, sooo gorgeous!
now i realize why Alex wouldnt let me have my fake little one! real ones are so awesome and smell amazing!


oh yea i call it christmas tree..... if it wasnt that tradition, there would be no trees! :D

that's fucked up your apartement does not allow trees! i wonder how the strata came up with that one. is it all apartements or just case dependent? i suppose it could be a fire hazard?

Ya my strata councel made the same "no real trees" rule, since we live in a wood frame building. On the one hand I agree that it is dangerous to have a wood building filled with wood trees, covered in lights that are plugged into an outlet that may be over loaded as it is. One spank and the whole building is burnt down, just so people call have a nice piney smell. Go get a fake tree and douse it in pine sole!!! On the other hand, if the building burned down, our insurance would cover it and build me a whole new condo.

I guess I'm biased cause I'm a Jew and we don't have xmas trees, we have a Hanukah bush. Coincidentally that's what I call it when I don't shave 'down there' for the holidays!

cant the fake one burn down with all the lights? i mean if lights cause the fire, i asume it could catch the carpet on fire?

It's not the carpet that is at risk of catching fire, unless there's a bunch of gasoline or NyQuil spilled there. The risk is if one spark hits any part of the tree, it could light a pine needle or part of the wood, that could cause a fire. A fake tree won't really burn or catch a blaze, it'll just kinda singe and melt. You don't see people starting campfire with big piles of plastic, they normally use wood(aka trees). I usually use midgets, they burn nicely.



I want a xmas-midget, to hang ornaments from, put presents under and hit when I'm loaded off of egg nog and I feel like venting!

i was listening to cknw yesterday and i found it kinda funny how alot of people are supposedly getting angry about having to say merry christmas, but when people started to phone in NOT ONE was for happy holidays.

on a side note: my buddy spent seven hundred dollars on one ugly ass fake tree. it's white, lop sided, and when you drop something it sings a dumb christmas carol. not only is it an eye sore, but it hurts the ears too.

I do admit that on display at The Bay (or wherever) they do look neat, but putting one in your home is like saying "laugh at me". :)
