Jovo to go under the knife

BREAKING NEWS
Jovanovski To Have Abdominal Surgery

Vancouver, B.C. - Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice-President and General Manager
Dave Nonis announced today that defenceman Ed Jovanovski
(http://www.canucks.com/theteam/roste...3&id=28#career) will have
abdominal surgery on Wednesday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

"After further consultation with one of the leading physicians with regard to
abdominal sports injuries it was decided that surgery was the best course of
action," said Dave Nonis. "The best long term decision for Eddie and our hockey
club was to have the surgery immediately."

Nonis better start thinking of either grabbing a goalie like Kolzig/Biron or Roloson or a decent defencemen.

Jovo already looked real rusty in his game that he came back in. Like handling the puck, the shot he took leading to the shorthanded goal a couple of games ago. Imagine how rusty he will look when he comes back from a layoff this long.

Am I the only one NOT disappointed about Jovo not being in the lineup? I mean it's too bad that it's at the expense of his health but he just hasn't been up to par this season anyways.

Jovo's biggest problem the past few seasons is that he's started to fancy himself a goal scorer and he's constantly moving way to far into the offensive zone. What happened to the stay at home defenseman who would hold the line at the point? Instead he ends up being in the offensive zone, coughs up the puck and has to attempt to chase down a rush.

I want the guy to get better and I feel bad that he has to skip over the Olympics but I've said all along that they should use his trade value before the deadline and make some changes. I wonder what this injury does to that value anyways?

^ no no trust me there are quite a few people on here who think Jovo's season has been disappointment and full of mistakes defensively.

I think there was a thread devoted to it.

Do any of you people that keep hacking Jovo for being to offensively minded think that the coaches might have anything to do with the way he plays? My take is that the coaching staff are asking him to jump up in the rush when the chance presents.

^ thats part of it but he's always been an offensive defensemen from his days in florida.

Its how he plays. I think its more the turnovers he's had this year. His defensive play hasn't been very good this season.

I think thats the part everyone cares about more than the offensive aspects of Jovo's play.
