No doubt, telus customer service is atrocious. You can't even call the individual stores to ask something because all the numbers direct you to the automated system. I'm beginning to believe that their customer service division is actually a single answering machine in a warehouse somewhere.

I always thought it was the other way around. ADSL is partitioned relative to how many users are active, whereas cable is relative to how close you are. I might be mistaken though

I work for Shaw jake

Telus: slower bandwidth, you've gotta wait for a port to open, the techs are idiots, you do get a free flatscreen lcd but you have to be connected with them for 3 years, horrible congestion

shaw: you can get a home bundle that includes highspeed, free antivirus, free service calls (in case a tech needs to come look at the lines), way faster speed and less congestion.

I'd go with shaw because telus are a bunch of tards.

not if you change your port to something un default but still within the range of working. But yeh if your downloading 30 movies they will be able to see. I can still get 1mb/s a second from torrents.

you have bandwidth caps that's about it.

Extreme and highspeed caps are rediculosly high but lightspeed is ass.

The telus cap is about 100 gigs a month. Somehow I managed to pull that off in 2 weeks once.

but yeah, either or is fine just for casual browsing and downloading. in your sitch i'd go with telus just to get free shit.

na, they block the packets, not the port. programs like utorrent are starting to encrypt their packets so shit like this can pass through. www.utorrent.com

mmm.. more like 174kb/s on their residential 1.5/768 line. IMO telus has better quality bw. you can get upto 300-400kb/s on their business lines, just a tad costly ;). I'm thinking of switching over to the Xtreme-I, can you quote me a price which includes modem rental, shaw inet line, basic cable vs modem purchase/inet/basic cable?

both plans are about 39.99/month.
Here's the real issue.. to get ADSL you MUST have a telus home phone line as well... so if you only use a cell phone the choice is obvious.

I've never had a problem with my cable connection and although I really don't know the speed difference between the two and don't even care to look, cable is plenty fast... besides, most of the time the download speed is dictated by the download site and not your connection anyway.

the shaw secure does suck major balls.. you have to uninstall all virus software
but have you ever looked at f-secure's site?! they're the leading company in antivirus software.
Secure does suck.. but F-secure is amazing software.
