So you might as well not even think about or consider it in any way. Thinking just makes you feel bad about the horrible life you've chosen to inflict on other people. Plus, it's cool not to think about stuff.

Eat me. You've gotta be some kind of pathetic to enslave entire nations just so you can have a closet full of shiny feet covers. You have a special place waiting for you in limbo.

I don't get what this has to do with me calling you a hippocrite? Are you trying to say that yes you are but it's okay because you feel bad about it?

wages and cost of living is diffrent.
everythings in prespective, if nike was going to pay them 20 bukks an hour the econimy would be fukked there, its keeping the circle going doode or dont u see that.
those people in vietnam working for nike would end up running the country.

Holy shit, do you have no idea what's going on in the world. It doesn't matter where you are in the world: sweat shops are sweat shops, not living wage providing employment.
"Workers at VN Nike shoe manufacturing plants make on 20 cents an hour or $1.60 per day. The workers told Vietnam Labor Watch that the cost of three meals per day in Cu Chi is about $2"
Wow, better start planning that retirement now. God help them if they need to buy shoes.

What the hell are you talking about? The Hells Angels made my E, not a 12 year old making less than three meals a day. Besides, I do E about as much as I buy a pair of shoes: once a year, maybe.

Yeah, or they could be in the landfills, picking up hypodermic needles and styrofoam cups.
Do a little research before you shoot from the lip. (I mean come on, how does anyone know the EXACT wage of what these people are getting paid? There are plenty of over exaggerations on both sides of this fence)

With all the heat that has been brought on Nike and other companies who have been shown to use massive sweatshop labour, they have been forced to clean up and become an incredible amount more ethic/human-rights friendly.
Now, I'm not saying I support their current ethics, morals (or lack there of) or code of conduct; but as Myra said. Is there honestly one thing you own that doesn't have the blood of slave labour on it in any way, shape or form?
I think not.
Get off it.

Some people just like shoes.

And besides, if you are going to fight the good fight, I would expect to see you bitching and moaning in every corporate thread; because after all, anyone with a shred of common sense knows that sweatshop work goes beyond Nike.

Well that makes it all just fucking dandy, doesn't it? Why bother even considering pursuing non-sweatshop shoes when you have a wallet. Oh wait, all my American Apparel shirts are sweatshops free, as well as my Adbusters shoes. I'm pretty sure all my vinyl is too. Guess I'm right, then.

That $0.20 a day is a lot to them because their standard of living is lower.

If you want to incite change and solve the problems of sweat shops you have to overthrow their Governments.

Raise an Army and do it or stfu. Thanx.

I don't get how insulting people is supposed to make them understand your point of view. Congrats on being socially conscious but to be honest, if you were to introduce an idea that was in the slightest bit new and required any sort of humouring to be understood, I would have a hell of a time taking you seriously.

You've expressed your concern, but thats really all you are doing. If you feel so passionate about it, go protest outside a store or something.
Stop harassing people who actually do have the same empathy, but know better than to disrupt a thread with brash ignorance and verbal attacks.

So by asking which shoes would you do are you like asking which ones we'd like to fornicate with??? I mean if you lined any one of those badboys with like rabbit fur or something on the inside I'd have a fucking hey day up in that shit.

Oh... and sweatshops are bad! Just trying to lighten up the convo a bit folks!

Either way.... Mangle, I'm not going to be able to come up with an exact reference here so you'll just have to bear with me, but not so long ago I was listening to a radio talk show about he whole 'Nike and sweatshops' deal.

They were commenting on a protest that had taken place. Now you're probably thinking to yourself 'Damn right.... it should be protested!' Well I would have agreed with you.... until they continued the story. The people protesting were third world 'sweat shop' employees who were protesting the protestors!! Basically they were saying 'Hey, shut the fuck up! We KNOW we work for shit but if we didn't have THIS job we wouldn't have ANY job!'

What it boiled down to was them telling protestors to lay off because if these factories are closed that these people would be even worse off than they already are! Now don't get me wrong.... I don't agree with what these people get paid. I think it's a damn shame. In the same respect though it seemed like they had a better outlook on it than we do.

How naive can you be. Their standard of living is lower because their democratically elected governments were already overthrown by American corporate interrests, all in the highly successful aim of creating plantation countries for export exploitation. Because we keep supporting these horrible practices, we are the reason this has and continues to happen. Think about it; we're not the only country with resources. Pretty much every country on the planet has [or had] enough nature to supply its people with the same standards we have. Thanks to corporate backed sanctions and coups, we have ensured the best and only jobs in those countries are sweatshops, and will be for as long as we need them to be. But don't worry; we'll be getting those jobs back soon enough [goodbye healthcare!].

Sorry, you said one thing. Now you want more examples? I'm right. Deal with it. Now that you mention it though, I don't eat fast food, I don't have a MP3 player, and I rarely chew gum.

I'm not here to make friends with your useless asses. Most of you people are retarded ["oh look, shoes!"]. You make me ashamed to be human. And just because I'm a douche doesn't mean I'm wrong. It just means I get to clean out a lot of pussy.
