The Splits

I want to learn how to do the splits. both ways.

How do i go about this? i am reasonably flexible, for a long lanky fellow, but not even close to doing the splits. whats the process.......just stretch like a mofo all the time, or is there something specific to do?

tips appreciated. thnx.

i used to be able to. and hold it for a lil while. until i gained weight and stopped going to karate.

Yoga would help, and alot of stretching and just trying to do it! Practice makes perfect, but the second it starts hurting stop thats your limit, ive seen many people strain themselves that way.

nabs is an unknown quantity at this point
it took me over a year of stretching and getting fit to be able to do it.

what you do is you strech to your limit, which is until it starts burning, then keep it there. until you cant take much more.

next day, let it heal, and when the muscle heals it will grow stronger and be able to withstand more,

then do it again the day after, it will take months of continuous stretching and YOGA helps for breathing and concentration. DONT GO FURTHER THAN YOU CAN.

thats what darren just said. i'm planning to start next week, there is a class an hour after im off thurs nights so it works perfectly.

after doing yoga 3 weeks in a row i noticed how helpfull it is......

especailly in my legs, and back.

it feels great!

Actually, that reminds me...My old friend Justin used to do cartwheels and splits in the hallways in highschool while hollering like xena the warrior princess. You're NOT SO UNIQUE AFTER ALL MISTER!
