I'm trying to convince Hardstylin' that Shabusen is actually a really great restaurant for all you can eat

Pretty yummy. You can have all you can eat hot pot or korean BBQ with sushi. If you can manage to score eating in the boat, it's fun. :)

I made the horrible mistake of going to Akira Sushi in PoCo, and now I can't go to the all you can eat places anymore... that place is flat out the best sushi I've had in this town. Anybody from PoCo to back me on this one?

I still go from time to time but they have shitty service and it's usually not worth the wait you usually have to endure to sit down - yes I even wait when I make reservations! The actual quality of their sushi/food is not really best in class, but it's not to say its bad.

Do you want good sushi or all you can eat japanese? There's a bit of a diff. between the two imo.

Oh hells yeah.

I love Shabusan... Go to the one on Granville & 11th better atmosphere than the one on Burrard. The all you can eat is awesome! Fuck I'm hungry now.

anyone know any good ones in burnaby? i went to that place in metrotown near the bay.. and that place blows.... they serve ur first order really fast then after that one it takes foreveeeeeeeeer to get ur food... oh and when u order a bunch of stuff they tend to not give you it either

i used to work at shabusen.

in reponse to a comment that the service sucks - yeah, i would say it does, but depends what you're looking for. their emphasis is all about speed... just getting the food out as fast as possible...

i never saw it myself, but i heard that sometimes the waiters drop the food on the ground by accident, so they just pick it up off the ground and put it back on the plate. hey, if they're in a hurry, why not? the customers wont know the difference!

as for the meat... it just sits in a huge bucket of marinade all day... and we just scoop it up and put it on a plate for you. yum. and if you order 10 orders of beef, we'll still only give you one plate, no matter what.

if you order oyster motoyaki... they just re-wash the shells (i guess they do this at all places) and cook em again. i found this to be quite interesting.

and regarding sushi quality - hey, its all you can eat. so the ingredients are obviously not the greatest...
