Jasper/Banff Alberta?

Hey

I am seriously considering packing up and moving to Banff or Jasper Alberta to work for the winter..

Has anyone ever worked in either places? Hotels? Resorts???

I have lots of hotel and management experience..so im not interested in housekeeping..or anything like that..maybe something a little more challenging.

I've looked all over the web..but would love some personal experience feedback if possible =D

THANKS

I did the same thing a few years back, packed up and moved to banff for the winter. Yeah it's f*cking cold, like -35, but you get used to it. Places up there always hire like crazy for their ski season. There wasn't much to do in banff if you didn't ski or snowboard.. there's like one main touristy street (in banff it was pretty touristy with like a gap, mcdonalds, etc) - Poeple (like me) pretty much worked to drink, there's a couple of nightclubs and a ton of bars.
Anyways, it was fun, there's a ton of young people in the industry so it's a very young town. But to be honest if you don't ski or snowboard, there's not a lot to do up there.

I did a fam trip to Banf/Lake Louise when I was a travel agent and fucking loved it up there. As mentioned if you're not into outdoors activities it might not be for you.

My friend just moved to Banff with a store she was working at here. The staff acomadation is decent priced and she already got a new job as a front desk clerk at a hotel. And shes looking at getting another job at night. The hotel Started her at 10.50 but she can move up, and the safeway there she said starts at 13.50 an hour. (13 something)
She is tottally having a blast and says its well worth it, an idea is to search HRDC job bank for that area they have so many hotels hiring. You could probally get the job then head up there.
Good Luck.

I dont ski, I dont snowboard, I hate being cold.. But thats all part of the challenge. I need a place to clear my head and take a break from the people around me. So its definately exciting. I'll learn to love all those things.

Thanks for all the information everyone!!!

If anyone knows any links..or anything let me know! =D

Find Banff and then search :)
My friend went up there knowing no one, although she has a friend in a town near by. As i said she loves it and her job options are endless.

If you decide to go to Banff i can talk to her and give you her number or something so you can meet someone.

I would have deffinatly loved to do something like this but life took me in another direction.
Thats the bonus though you move up there and theres all the staff acomadation so you meet other people like right away, and its no more then like 250 or 300 a month or something like that.
And hell $13 to work at safeway! LoL
I know she said alot of hotels are hiring aswell!

Also she said alot of places just put up signs not all advertise everywhere, so if you go there with one job chances are you can find one you like even better once there. Thats how she did it, used her job as a stepping stone :)

Good luck up there and hope you find what you're looking for. I know that I've been thinking of doing the same thing because there is so much money to be had there, it's nuts.
