There was a bartender at 555 Vibes who made like the best martinis and cocktails ever. I always just told him the kind of taste I was looking for or just one ingrdiant and he would make something totaly orriginal and out there.
Otherwise keep an eye out for places that have specials on martinis on certain days... bad news!

From what I remember, the idea was that you're supposed to load up your shaker with ice, shake up the vermouth, pour the vermouth down the sink (or drink it, whichever's your fancy). Then use the same ice cubes to load up your gin, so basically the vermouth is entirely just to flavour the ice cubes for the mixing.
Also, the whole "shaken not stirred" thing was pretty much started by Ian Fleming and his Bond books.... traditionally all martinis are stirred.

or sip on granville... or even salt lick on alberni... its a fuckin martini dude... where's a good place to get a slurpee around here...
