i don't think this was a good trade.
i'm glad that bert is moving on, and i could give a shit less about allen, but why the hell did we trade auld? why didn't we unload cloutier? i think florida would have been happy with coult and it would have free'd up 2.5 million on our payroll. on the other hand, when loundgo became a free agent in april, the first thing i thought was "ohh i hope vancouver pick him up for bert!" and i could be happier about that. but at the expense of a backup goalie that had 35 wins last season for a mediocre 18 point -1 defenceman and a 6th round draft pick? gimme a break!

For starters it was definitely a case of Florida not wanting Cloutier or his salary. Auld is young, has a small price tag and has shown all kinds of upside plus he's only 25. As for Loungo for Bert it's pretty fair in the sense they are both on the last year of their contracts so neither team has any guarantee of having these players more than one season. For the Canucks getting a franchise goalie is HUGE and is the most important building block towards a cup. For Florida if Bertuzzi returns to form he will lead the team in scoring and will look pretty deadly next to Jokinen. At the end of the day though I don't think there is anyway that Florida would have straight up done Loungo for Bertuzzi so that's where Auld and Allen came into the mix. As for Lukas Krajicek I just read his scouting report and he has some potential. He's highly rated for his offensive ability and should be NHL ready this year or the next.

Thank goodness we got luongo on a long term deal. I think he has proven more than anythign he is one of the elite goalies.
Playoff's are still the real test. Next question how many games and wins is luongo going to finish the regular season with.

Pitts pretty much IS crosby if you think about it. Sure they got some good players now, but think to when there was no crosby = bottom feeders. Buddy has the ability to change around a whole game single handedly (while being an actual team player) Id never pick guys like Ovech to be MVP, individual talents can only get your team so far.

You forgot they also have a talented young defensemen named Ryan Whitney. They also have Gonchar. Both of these defensmen are realyl good offensive defensemen. I think whitney is better defensively than gonchar thoguh.
Ya I agree I don't think Fleury will cut it. But ya Crosby,Malkin, Jordan Staal, Ryan Whitney all solid young players.
