Oakley´s or other brand

I wanna buy new sunglasses, but here is my dilemma:
Should I get oakleys for like 150-200 euros, which are good glasses and they use good material, but may be they are not today´s fashion or as galaxie said in another thread, they are played,
or should I get another brand ( italian of course: Armani, Prada, Versace or D&G), so I would fit in the crowd, even spend a bit less, but what about the quality of the glasses.. ??

So this goes especially to those ppl who wear those brands ( prada, armani, etc.) Are those good quality lenses and how is the material of the frame?
Thanx and enjoy your day ( ummm night ;o)

There are alot of different style of oakleys. I go to the optometrist office and order through the catalogue. Go oakley or go home.

i was just going to say that.

i just recently bought i pair of Ray Bans Aviators (the cop shades) i few weeks back, and i couldn't be happier with them. they were made in italy, so it wouldn't suprise me that they might be cheap where you are due to less shipping. they were $170, but they come with a 1 year factory defect warrenty, and a 10 year shatter warrent. plus, they offer a 100% UV protection.

if you're going to go with anyone, go with Ray Bans.

you shouldnt not get sunglasses jsut cause their played out nor should you just buy sunglasses jsut cause their in. That jsut means u have no sense of style at all and you jsut follow crowds. Buy what you think is nice even if its Oakleys. Personally i usually only buy Versace/D&G/ Gucci sunglasses as in my opinion their men styles are the best and are most suited for my taste.

Fit in a crowd?!?!? Are you crazy! Don't be a lemming.

Go custom.

Pick a pair of sweet frames and have a zero power sunglass lens made with both UVA and UVB coatings applied.

True style only exists when you make your own.

bah! Ive never understood why some people by hundreds of dollars for sun glasses when even 50-80 will get you just as good ones!

"But mine are bullett proof!" - Well... good to know no one will assinate your eyeball!

I bought a pair of Bolle's for $45 on sale. They are great and Ive had them forever! Before that, I found that thoes $10-20 glasses worked just as good as any other (making sure you get ones with proper protection!)

But if you want to spend that much on sun glasses, go for it! Maybe I would have a different view if I had 100's of dollars to spend like that!

^I'm sorry, but you cannot compare the lense quality of a $10 pair of sunglasses to a pair $200 sunglasses.

It's like comparing a BMW to a KIA.

Where did I say the lense quality was the same? I think I said that they work pretty much the same!
And I also said if you want to then go for it.

Awesome protection and just amazing shades. I've had my pair for about 3 years and they are still kicking ass and I haven't exactly been NICE to them to say the least. Affordable is always good too :)

Im just impressed I havent broken mine yet! 4+ years and still goin lol!

edit: another reason i dont want to pay 200 for sun glasses. I know that I couldnt afford to keep buying sun glasses at 200 a pair if I were to break them! I would feel pretty shitty if I did!

my statement was that they're not pretty much the same.

I chose lense quality as a feature to single out on the whole.

Why people pay more?

Well if both pair of sunglasses offer the same amount of UV protection then the only difference... USUALLY... is in the optics of the lenses.

This is not always true but usually the more expensive glasses have better lenses (no image blur, waves or warp). Oakleys have really nice optical lenses.

This is not alway true as I tried on a pair of D&G sunglasses and I got dizzy from how bad the lenses are.

Most of the time people are paying for the name, but if you shop wisely you can get great UV protection and optically clear lens for cheap.

Then go with what works for you! Just because I dont want to spend that much on glasses doesnt mean you cant do it! My word is not the voice of god, just another personal opinion amongst thousands of others ;)

Thanx !
Of course I don´t mind... They were 155 euros in the store in my small town, but I got 15% off so I paid 130 overall....which is around 190 or 200 bucks. I bet they are cheaper on the internet, but I like to try the stuff I buy before I pay for it...

i have a pair of armani shades and just recently bought a new pair of oakley shades. here is my comparison:

armani - as MChammered mentioned above about wearing D&G glasses, i found that a few times i got dizzy wearing these. therefore lenses quality is not the greatest. i got these shades cuz i liked their style at the time... kinda GQ-ish, dressed-up kinda shades.

oakleys - i love these! lenses quality is way better... and i didnt even get the polarized ones. there is a huge price difference when u buy non-polarized vs polarized oakleys. polarized are supposedly much clearer. but i still got the non-polarized cuz they were cheaper... and things look fine to me. also... they fit better on my face than the armanis, more comfortable too. and the style is much more suited to my tastes now... i can wear on any occasion... like at the poker table! haha

anyways, just look at the two companies - armani is a designer brand that just makes anything stylish, whereas oakley is more of a specialty brand, specializing in glasses and other stuff. that pretty much says it all. and it seems that ray ban has been getting good reviews too on this thread. i got a pair of ray ban's as well and i would rate them better than the armanis... better fit, more comfortable, better lenses. so yeah... if ur gonna get some shades, get them from a company that specializes in them! my gf has some gucci shades and she paid a lot more for them than my oakleys... but i think they are only pricey because of the name brand and the fact that US and Star magazine says they're in, not because of any merit on their part.

I have a few pairs of Oakleys now. I personally love their unique style and fit. The other reason I swear by them is because they have a lifetime warranty on the frames (even if it was your fault for breaking them)

A couple years ago I stepped on my Racing Jackets and snapped the frame. I sent the broken frame and lenses away. In a few weeks they sent back a brand new frame with my old lenses in them (which weren't broken). I had these glasses for a few years at this point and it didn't cost me anything other than the shipping costs of my broken frame, and I didn't even have to show my receipt.

Well worth the initial investment imo.
