How did the gun for nintendo work?

ive always wondered about this... how exactly did it work? it couldn't have used a laser system because then that'd mean if you shot onto your television screen, your television screen would have to detect the laser and then transmit the pixel coordinates back to your nintendo... that'd mean that your tv would have to have a specially made screen that's integrated with your nintendo

the only thing i can think of is that the gun acts almost like a camera in the sense that once you shoot it takes a snapshot of what the nozzle can see... once it does that it determines the exact centre of the snapshot and checks to see if that object is a shootable object (for example, a duck in duckhunt)

the doubt i have about the above idea is that i dont know if they have the technology to do such a thing..

im still puzzled about how it worked!! crazy japs and their nintendo!!!

i never played operation wolf. if you were really pro with the gun, you'd sit RIGHT in front of the tv and kill everything!

k i agree operation wolf is fucking hard, but it really challenges people to get good with the gun, as a kid i did the whole two inches from the tv so that i oculdnt loose but now i go as far back as the cord will let me, and i actually hit stuff too!
