ImageA day after SCEA said MGS4 would be arriving in "late Q2," Konami has announced that the title is slated to arrive on June 12 in North America.

Konami is hyping up the game as an event in line with a summer blockbuster release.

"Blockbuster events and premieres are a tradition of the summer," said Konami Digital Entertainment chairman and CEO Kazumi Kitaue. "We anticipate that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots fits that bill perfectly, and consumers will be waiting in line to get their copy of the game just like it's a hit Hollywood movie."

Konami also confirmed (yet again) that MGS4 would be shipping with the Metal Gear Online "Starter Pack" which supports online play.

A limited pre-release program will give pre-orderers of MGS4 the Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD that contains "a Prologue that recaps the Metal Gear franchise, a 20th Anniversary retrospective, character bios for Big Boss, Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake, and Solid Snake, plus a collection of international trailers of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots."

A download code will also be included with the pre-order pack that will allow users to lock in a beta test slot for Metal Gear Online. The beta test begins in April.

SCEA announced on Wednesday that it would be offering an MGS4 PS3 hardware bundle for $499 which includes an 80GB PS3, a DualShock 3 controller and a copy of MGS4.

Konami has confirmed that the title will be released simultaneously in North America, Europe, Japan and Asia on Thursday June 12, 2008. It will be the first time ever Konami has simultaneously released a title in the 22 million unit selling series throughout the world.

“MGS4 will be the final chapter in the Metal Gear series,” Konami added, “so all the major characters will make an appearance and all the remaining mysteries will be unveiled.”

this series is probably the most artistic and beautiful to ever grace a Sony product, im sad to see that this is the last one. ive watched the trailer many times for MGS4 and i cant wait, if you havent seen it i would recommend as its very shocking at the end. This game will cause me to buy a PS3.
