Can you start your own diablo II game without battlnet?

question 2, in celebration of D3, any nerds wanna start up a campaign? so long as question 1 is yay

you can start your own game but you cant transfer that character into battlenet.

A cross between the two.

Guild Wars uses the instanced dungeons like WoW but has MMorpg cities/common areas throughout the world, combat is initiated by targeting someone. With a regular attack it happens automatically a la WoW. However, you have eight skills that are activated instantly with by pushing 1-8. These skills activate immediately leading to a degree of twitch gaming.

Oh, well wow never appealed to me. I used to watch my coworkers at EA play it. Looked boring and the world is huge.
I like linear games when doing RPG action.
