Was there for midnight opening at Future Shop yesterday. They gave away a Locust figure with its head blown off, COG tags, a tshirt, free download for the gold-plated lancer gun, and a bunch of other stuff. I already grabbed like two of the figures from the video game merchant beforehand but they're really fuckin' cool.

Played the game after the midnight opening. It's a lot more epic and intense compared to the first one. I love using the locust as an ammo cushion, lovin' the progress updates. Graphics are drool worthy (bf finally upgraded to an 360 Elite). Haven't played online yet, but man, this game is sexy.

First gears was the best 3rd person shooter I've ever palyed. can't wait to get my hands on 2 =)

i was soooooo stoked for the 1st one but it was nowhere near as good as people thought it would be or said it was. the gameplay was ingenious but it got very old very fast. the graphics were absolutely nutter and same with gow2. but i cant be sold on graphics alone. the campaign has zero replayability and is pretty drab just the first time through. co-op was a bit better for sure.

online its essentially the same thing over and over. even counterstrike had more versatility than gears online.

i havent played the 2nd one yet fully, i only played for a bit at pax. im willing to try it but i cant say im expecting a whole lot more.

My secrets out noooo. I have a problem where I accidentally line up at future shops.

The game is really good though. Better weapon sounds and slick graphics. Campaign seems challenging enough so far. Online play is lacking though. I thought they were going to have dedicated servers like the last gears but instead you end up searching for a match for a long time unless you have a full 5 in your party. Hopefully they'll patch the online experience soon enough. The new finishing moves are sick though especially for teaming up on a dead guy. Shot gun isn't as strong as the first gears though.

That's horde mode.. we made it up to level 18.. then all of us got slaughtered.

it's tough and team work is the only way to make it.

I'll admit, I didn't like Gears of War as much on solo. For me, the funnest part of most shooters is strategizing to get the job done and finding new techniques, what gun or weapon works best against which enemies, etc. I hate the split screen coop mode, but it's awesome if you can see yourself chainsawing someone in the other person's screen. Like when you're fighting the Sires, I just went chainsaw crazy and really, chainsawing the shit out of things in the game just feels good!

Horde mode is sick. We made it to level 40 the other night and it just gets ridiculous. Online is better now.

Kam: do you have problems finding people to play horde? I've played 3 times.

You need to be in a part of 3 or 5 sometimes to find a match really quick. Otherwise you can get picked up as a single player playing the online public playlists sometimes horde too.

Beat the co-op campaign with the boy and tested out Horde mode. IT'S AWESOME. It's just him and I and we're at Horde 8 now. Reminds me of Terrorist Hunt mode in Rainbow Six Vegas but you shoot a lot more shit. Is Horde Mode more difficult when you have more players playing?

Unrelated note: Sometimes some of the shit the characters say just make me laugh!

haha yeah i was thinking that the other night too. i got this on the weekend but haven't played online yet. never been huge on fps games, so i kinda suck. :(

^ When I first started playing the first one, I had such a difficult time with the controls of Gears. It just didn't feel natural to me, the controls of Rainbow Six and Halo felt natural. I had troubles with Mass Effect's controls at first too with its overly sensitive weapon selecting menu wheel. Every game has different controls too so while adjusting to a new game you end up accidently bombing someone when you're actually just trying to aim your gun.

Just picked it up yesterday because they didn't have NHL 09 or Call of Duty at my local store.

Solo play - Meh. Hasn't changed much since the first one, which didn't thrill me on co-op

Sitting on the couch with my roommate playing co-op - Gold, and totally worth the price of admission.

Terrorist Hunt Mode on Vegas 2 was probably some of the best times i had. Putting the difficulty to max, and highest density, makes the game a blast!
