I dunno if Cameron's gonna pull this one off. It seems a little try-hard. Some of it looks amazing, but those creatures look a little bit stupid. I guess it's gonna come down to how good the story is...cuz spectacle only goes so far.

Looks awsome! I usualy cringe at most cgi intensive films, but that looks very next level.

I hope the 3D is as good as the CGI. I don't want some scenes in 3D ala Harry Potter, etc.

I'll admit not seeing this film in 3D is like seeing a film panned-and-scanned. The detail is probably so compacted here on the small screen so as to make it look flat and "Pixar-ish." On the big screen, in 3D, it'll probably blow us away.

maybe it'll look better on the big screen.... i kinda hate cgi movies tho... they just look cheap and it feels like im watching a videogame. I think directors need to balance the cgi with older special effects techniques more, even if it is more expensive.

^On that note, check out the "Tron" trailer

Apple - Trailers - Tron Legacy

It was shot here, in Van, so, there's a marriage of live-action w/ updated graphics that merely _polish_ the original's look (well, from what I saw).

Wow!
It seems that there's a sudden rush of flicks that I'm interested in seeing!

Anyone up for a Sunday evening flick @ Scotia Cinemas (Smythe and Burrard)?

Frosty
(still grooves on those wall-making digi-cycles)

From what I got out of the trailer it looks as if it'll at least have a bit of story substance behind the effects drool-fest! The fact that it's supposed to be some seriously next level IMAX 3D has me intrigued too.

Hopefully, in the end, it'll beat the hype machine and stand out on its own. I'll pay my $12 and judge for myself come December!

I saw it last night in 3D Imax....That's the only way to see it. That was probably the most amazing theatre experience I've ever had. My mind was blown for 2 hours and 40 mins. The story may have been a bit clichéd or familiar at times, but the environment in which it was taking place was so incredible, and the stuff that happens is so amazing that anything remotely cheesy or cliché was instantly forgotten and overwhelmed by more awesomeness.

The shots were amazing, the CGI was probably the best to date. Some good actors in there. I couldn't recommend seeing this in 3D IMAX enough. It's something everyone should experience...it's a milestone in filmmaking. It cost aroudn 300 million to make...and you can see every penny on-screen.

Only saw it in digital 3D, and it was still truly epic and really took you to a whole new experience in film. Next up in IMAX. I can only imagine.
