I like it. It's pretty wide, maybe 18cm, but that's just more ergonomic then having the hands two cm away. Not sure how the analog control works.

unfortunately nintendo can launch a portable on the strength of it's nintendo-branded games alone... sony i'd be worried about, they'd need a lot of good third partty games.

sony doesn't need to be worried imo.
any company that has had the backing of square(now square-enix) has won the console wars.
if the next console war is fought between two portable models, I think the psp will win.

the only thing that may flop the PSP is the price. The GB SP is now $99.99 and the price of the PSP when it comes out is going to be aorund double maybe triple that. You can also be garanteed that the GB SP will drop in price once the PSP comes out. None the less the PSP will be a handheld wonder with it's graphics and acually surround sound! lol Also there are some other sweet features that i can't remember right now. i think like something along the lines of video and mp3 compatability.

As for the PS3 take a look in this months EGM magazine for an artist design picture. It looks pretty cool, but very different. In reality they have already started the games for PS3. The head of productions for the PS3 says it is going to spend so much time making and perfecting this machine that it well be released after the XBOX 2 and the new Nintendo console. Either way it's going to be insane.

This makes me sound like a complete dork.

As for Square-enix making products for Nintendo... that doesn't matter at all. Square-enix still owns nintendo so bad it's not even funny.

Im using an n-gage here and the controls sure suck but the d-pad works really well for most games.

the psp will be a good competitor for nintendo's longest running and most popular system the gameboy.

One cool thing Sony actually did was a little clip-on screen that you can attach to a PS-one (one of the new ones) and pretty much make it a plug-it-in-anywhere laptop-like thing. No battery pack afaik though... But damn that's still a smart idea....

the clip on screen never flied.... went down hill. It was still a very nice concept.

check out this months EGM... some guy acually created a portible PS, SNES and ATARI. No joke. He's a fucking genius I'll post his website later... you can acually buy the protables for like 300 each. SNESp WOOT!
