I admit to being a lord of the rings nerd. You gotta have imagination to love it. So many people that don't like/understand it have dry imaginations.

and i agree with "wood" it's the greatest story ever told, and Tolkien was a absolute genious...lotr is so complex, you find something new every time you read the books. JRR Tolkien spent his entire life writing these books, you gotta appreciate that.

^have you read Silmarillion? now that's a serious geek fest... it's pretty much the entire history of middle earth, and all the mythology Tolkien created as the foundation of the languages of middle earth... you gotta read that to see how huge Tolkien's concept really was...

I did read the Silmarillion. It's a hard read, but totally worth it. I love the "story of Beran and Luthian" it's so sad. Actually, i have some of the "history of middle earth series" but those ones are REALLY hard to read. So many charecters to memorize, and so many different places...i could barely get through it.

^i think she meant his entire adult life, he didn't start writing The Hobbit the moment he popped out of the womb...

but LOTR was his life's work, he wrote sooo much more than has ever been published.... his son Christopher has compiled a lot of his un-published works and released them, hence 'Unfinished Tales' and the 'History Of Middle Earth' series

just go reading crazy like i do (every night :284: ) stay up till like 2am reading, till you can't keep your eyes open. Before you know it, you will be finished the book. but then you may end up like me who stays up all night and sleeps all day because of it.
