Lost in Translation

I feel really dumb for posting this, but...am I the only one who didn't "get" it? I mean, it didn't bore me or anything, but it's not like I was in awe at the end of the movie either.

I also don't understand why it's considered a comedy...

Like, I get it, but I don't think I "got" it. Does that make any sense? Maybe i'm thinking about this way too hard.

dont hurt yourself.......go rent ,fast and the furious 2,and then watch some episodes of the simple life to feel all better.

A lot of people loved this film as much as I did, but there are a few people on whom it didn't have the same effect. I'm not sure why this is.

Why is it a comedy? The theater I saw it in, everyone (myself including) was hysterical over Murray deadpanning his way through run ins with an alien language and culture. If you didn't find it funny, what can I say?

Same goes for the emotional impact... I found the relationship between Murray and Johannson's characters beautiful and sad. Something clicked between them, they both needed a life preserver to cling to and they recognized it and found it in each other.. only to see that relationship fracture under its own newness and fragility. Then, as the time ticks down to Bob's departure, the fact they'll obviously never see each other again (and even if they did, it wouldn't be the same) hangs over the last moments of the film...

I dunno, I felt pathos! PATHOS!

the ending was meant to be open ended...you cant hear what he says to her for a reason.......

Did anyone here(besides me) actually watch this movie in the theatres before it became to be well known due to the grammys.....or better yet, had even heard of it before the awards :P

Solid acting though no doubt. Bill's award speech almost matched his performance in this movie.
