My gamecube cant load games!!

when i try loading a game, it always says that it cant load the game disc, or that it doesnt recognize the disc... and this occurs with every game i try

the gamecube was working perfectly fine last night when i was playing it, and i played it yesterday almost ALL day without any problems at all

ive searched the net and apparently there's an easy fix that requires opening up the gamecube and adjusting the DVD motor (the intensity of the laser needs to be increased)... but there are 2 problems:
1) the gamecube's actually my friend's who has gone to new zealand for a few months, so i dont want to break anything
2) i dont have the game bit screw which is used for nintendo (its sorta like a star shape)

have any of you had this problem before with your gamecube? this fucking sucks! i wanted to see if i could beat eternal darkness today but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it had to break :(

Go to your local hardware store and ask them for a 'torx' screw driver... thats probably the head type you need. Its not used all that often for things but that sounds exactly like what you need to at least open the cube up.

I've heard of the problems with the gamecubes yet I have no experience fixing them so I can't really help you there. Sorry :(

^^ no worries, thanks for the input! the screw head i need is actually a 4.5mm gamebit driver... not sure where i'd buy one here but i can get them off some sites on the net

yea ive had that problem in the car witht he cube but not as bad as yours. it only happened a few times here and there with some games. good luck
