dvd players / movies

if u own a home system dvd player

a) how much did it cost?

b) can you play bootleg/pirated movies? (i'm not talking about shitty "filmed-from-inside-a-theater" bootlegs.. i'm talkin the good quality movies with either a documentary, special feat., language, subtitle or nothing missing.)

c) can u play all the different subtitles/languages listed on the cover (or whatever language the retailer told u the movie was in)?

a) $60, but it's a DVD-ROM, and those go for about $30 these days.
b) Yes. Linux is a beautiful thing.
c) Yes.

come on ty u gotta ask the chinese on this one lol. Don't you know the ultimate dvd machine that so many of us yellows have? The electro home. The one with the 2 blue lights on the front. they dont sell it anymore but i have never heard of a time where it havn't played a disc before (pirated) shit of course. And back when they sold it it was only like a bill and it actually lookks decent

ps2 doesnt play pirated dvd's

however my dvd drive does.

actually computer dvd players are somewhat better than home theater ones..

eboy ya.. i gotta one that plays pirate stuff too.. but like some subtitles can only be playd on certain viewings... like i can view azumi only on full screen. no wide screen.. as i found out ;(

All DVD ROMs, and at that matter, all DVD hardware, will play pirated DVDs. All that matters is the soft/firmware for it.

As I said, Linux is a wonderful thing. Given that DeCSS is the only way to watch it on Linux, you can pretty much do whatever the hell you want with any information on the DVD.

decss and its analouges work on windows/osx no problem.

I've found it more difficult to find free DVD players for windows. Most people don't need it, as your typical Windows or OSX machine comes with a DVD player of some variety (Not really windows, but the DVD-ROM tends to, no?)
