DVD burning

I'm not sure where else to post this but here. Does anyone know how I can burn a dvd? Do I need any special software or hardware, or can I get around all the copyright stuff myself? My current dvd burn program is Easy CD Creater, but it's not letting me burn it file for file. Help!

pretty sure u need a specific dvd burner to burn dvds and with certain other burners u can burn vcd's which work like dvds in certain machines.

if you have a dvd burner, I was hinted into a little program that runs behind your normal dvd burner (I would reccomend 123copyDVD download.com link) when all used together can burn any dvd quite easy.

reply with some more info on your equiptment.

I downloaded the 123copy thing which seems helpful, but isn't allowing me around the copyright stuff which is mainly what I was hoping for. As for my equipment, my software as mention before is the roxio easy cd creator (includes dvd burning) and as for hardware I couldn't really tell you. It came ready with the computer (which is a dell).

try installing this, allowing it to run in the background while you attempt to 'ripp' the dvd using ether 123 dvd copy, or your easy cd creator.

heh im actually in the process of burning a dvd right now

lemme just give you guys a little more info on burning (backing up) dvd's... the dvd-rs you can buy right now only hold about 4.* gigs but most dvd movies you'll be trying to "back up" are around 7-8 gigs ... this means thats if you are going to "back up" a dvd its going to take 2 dvd-rs

how are you going to get around this problem? well, you could buy double-sided dvd's OR buy a dual-layer dvd burner which can burn dual-layer dvd's (8.5gigs). only problem is that dual-layer dvd's wont be sold retail for about another month or so

ANYWAYS, back to the original question of just sofware, i suggest downloading DVDFab. basically an all-in-one program that'll copy dvd's... plus it has a 30-day free trial period!

You could just get a cracked copy of DVD Xcopy Platinum, that will allow you to burn just about any DVD... though it will compress DVDs larger than 4.7 Gigs, it isn't too noticeable though.

I suggest going to where I work and buying LOTS of unnecessary programs software and merchandise so I can look like a good salesperson :)

anyways, i know the reason why i wanted to start burning dvd's in the first place was to copy DVD movies... but since almost all dvd movies wont fit on a single dvd-r its kinda lacking in terms of convenience

and my previous information isnt useless considering a lot of dvd copying software (nero, roxio, etc) wont automatically split the dvd movie into 2 dvd-rs to burn... so if you didnt already know what i was talking about earlier you'd be sitting there wondering how the hell you're supposed to fit 7+gigs onto a 4.5gig disc

you cut the crap, just burn the movie already. dvd's are 75% movie, 25% BS..
