Jade Empire
What a solid freaking game.
Graphically, the game is really pleasing minus some aliasing and clipping but it's really minimal considering the scope of the game. Environments are extremely detailed and gorgeous to look at. Add in the musical score and you'll find yourself zoning out quite easily. Rather than a turn-based RPG fight style they went for realtime which works out really well. It's simple to learn and a buttload of fun. It helps appeal to the more action-oriented fans I suppose. You can learn over 30 martial styles which is kind of cool. Character development is simple enough for anyone to understand which helps to make the game accessible. Story line is easily the strongest aspect of the game. Thousands of spoken lines that make you feel like you're watching a movie... really well acted as well might I add. I advise turning the subtitles OFF for more of a movie feel. You can choose from up to 7 different characters to start your game and they have different martial styles so you can have a different experience with every character. IGN gave the game a 9.9 out of 10... good enough for me! |

had a friend who worked on the sound for that game...
I've heard mixed reviews ranging from good to amazing but I never trust IGN's scores as they always overrate games. How's it compare to KOTOR? Bioware makes some solid games - one day i'll get an x-box :-\ |

The game also got a 9.6 on teamxbox and I believe a 9.8 from Official Xbox Magazine.... gamespot rated it an 8.8 or something but they rate really tough on everything! I honestly don't use the ratings to judge whether or not I'm going to buy a game. Some people do though so I figured I'd provide them. |

it got a 91 on www.metacritic.com, they average hundreds of ratings to get that so it's a pretty solid game i'm sure (not to mention that bioware did it instead of kotor 2, so its got natural evolution on its side), i'm picking it up for sure this next week.

i just finished this, it was good, but really easy. my only qualm is that if i hadn't taken my time it would have taken me much less than 22 hours to complete. I could sense the inevitable end-of-game hints about 10 hours in, but thankfully there are a few plot twists and ultimately the game left me satisfied.
