The Simpsons sucks ass.

The Simpsons officially jumped the shark with the death of Maude Flanders. The show started going downhill about a season and a half before that, but that was the death knell of the show for me. After that, they just took the stupid gimmicks, lame guest voices and asinine family trips (to Brazil, Africa, Canada, and on a Mission somewhere crappy) to the crappy extreme. Seasons 1-5 are some of the best TV ever produced, and you don't get a feel for how shitty the show has gotten until you go back and watch those episodes in all their former glory. They make the new episodes look like garbage. I'm pretty sure the movie is going to suck too. Oh well, what're you gonna do?

For the longest time I kept hearing "Simpsons were so much better back in the day", but every time I watched a new episode I found myself rolling on the floor.

Until I watched a Season 10 episode.

Apparently Groening isn't even on the staff anymore for Simpson's. I'd imagine that's probably thing #1 killing it these days. But good for him for moving on.... He needs another project tho....

I just saw the last ep of Venture Bros. on Sunday (yay it's on Teletoon now!).... They were all decked out as Rocky Horror characters after their Phantom of the Cinemax adventure..... Dr. Venture as Frank, Brock as Rocky, Hank and Dean as Columbia and Riff respectively, and Helper as mags...

That episode totally ruled.

yes it has gone downhill.... but it still kicks ass on most tv shows out there, especially family guy. The only better comedy shows still in production imo are Trailer Park Boys and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Even South Park has gone further downhill than the Simpsons in my reckoning.

maybe so, i do still like it... the ones you mentioned are definitely all gold (although wasn't the john edward one like 3 seasons ago?)

i think they hit a peak with the 'ladder to heaven' episode though..

I think I only really watch the simpsons is when I'm @ PBreaks.

oh and i too think the simpsons have gone down in the last year or 2. but i still watch the older ones at LEAST twice a day

some lil facts i know from watching simpsons too much:

-there is not a single day of the week which simpsons isnt on at least 3 or 4 times.
- the simpsons will ALWAYS be on at 4:00 no matter what day of the week
- seasons 6-13 always get the highest viewers...(found that on the net)

I agree to some extent with some of the criticism The Simpsons has received in this thread.. BUT

You do not title a subject "The Simpsons suck ass" without adding the qualifier "NOW".

We're talking about the greatest animated sitcom of all, time.. and one of the greatest sitcoms period. Show some respect.
