wtf

i went to the movies last night and the alesse ads were everywhere. since when did designer birth control become all the rage? what kind of message are they putting out with these glammed up girls bragging about being on the pill?

alesse was the first pill i was put on when i was 15 b/c i supposedly had the lowest amount of estrogen or something. (i'm not on it anymore cuz my doctor helped me find the right pill for me.) they don't even mention the difference btwn alesse and other pills in the ads.

it just concerns me that these marketing schemes are targeting young girls are glamourizing sex and being on birth control pills without making any mention of all the risks involved with the deed. there isn't even any mention that birth control doesn't provide any protection from stds.

*sigh*
can't wait to see what approach the other brands take when they finally have to advertise as well. then we can all label each other by the shoes we wear AND the oral contraceptive we use!

There is also a bc patch commercial when you go to see the movies too. Its weird bc I dont remember a time when birth control was so openly advertied. And its kinda indirect bc most guys dont understand what either commercials are about.

I took an unofficial poll among friends and coworkers and some had no clue! And my male coworker reported that not only did he hafta ask his gf what they were about, but that some of his friends did too.
