A Dashed Hope had crazy visuals, a checkpoint, tickets that weren't sold in stores, pounding techno music (Yes, TECHNO. Not house, not trance, not breaks, TECHNO... though there was some of the other) a chill area (not really a room, as it didn't have its own music, but it was a loft that padded the sound decently enough that you could have a conversation) and a guy dressed up as Johnny The Homicidal Maniac.

This was in March.

Where the hell have you guys been?

PS: Groove sucked ass as a movie. Even though groove had better music, Human Traffic was a wayyyyy better snapshot of party culture IMHO. Groove was a bunch of stereotypes and no plot. Kinda like a rave, I guess.....

But it is the stereotypes that make the movie entertaining to watch.

Has anyone been around long enough to remember 'rave' style music? (I dont remember if there was an actual catagorie for it when if first came out!) Like back with DJ RedAlert?

back in 2001-2002 there was Cheeky Classics, which had the rule: only tunes from the 90's. so amid the techno and trance there was a significant sect of messiah, human resource, oldskool prodigy, 808 state and the like.

for those of us that weren't actually there for when those tunes came out it was educational and fun as all hell. wicked wicked tunes too.
