Chaotic, aggressive, energetic, hypnotic, psychedelic – these are only some of the epithets that could be used to describe Crystal Distortion…

Talking about Crystal Distortion, the first thing that should be pointed out is the sound-evolution that is being injected by the human psyche.

Simon Carter – the main figure behind Crystal Distortion is a bright example of transforming energy from one state to another with probably the best method of doing it - through dance music.

Born in London, Carter found himself in the middle of the stormy-evolving electronic music culture, penetrated by the various rhythms of hip-hop, breaks, techno, hardcore, etc. His exciting trip through music began in the 90s, when Carter, only 17 at that time, created 51m0ne, hooked up with a record label, Moving Shadow and dropped his first “Earth Leakage Trip”. Meeting Spiral Tribe was a great achievement in his career. Later their constant collaborations turned into the R-ZAC project, with their mobile studio and label, Network 23, which in its turn was followed by the Crystal Distortion concept.

The music provided by Crystal Distortion can not be described as ‘techno’, ‘breakbeat’ or other ‘standalone’ style, as each new release contains something that would confuse any electronic music expert, sounding like a great fusion of every electronica element.

One thing about Crystal Distortion that is noticed at first glance is the transformation of chaotic and hard trance 4/4 beats to more competent electro-breaks with IDM and noise sound elements as well as different distorted and pitched-up hip-hop samples, which are the integral part of his compositions.
