Tearout breaks refers to the heavy, darker end of the break beat scene .

artists like ED209 ,Quest, Mutiny, Breakfastaz, Autobots etc

Lots of rolling beats and nasty full on basslines.

I would have thought the funky, Techy end of breaks where more popular in van. ah well ,thats just my outside impression.

any style of breaks that'll make you move..vancouver's a city that dances to it's music rather than just standing arounnd...krafty kuts gets everyone moving with chunky and funky breaks....where as this shit is full of energy so you wouldn't help but move anyways :p

this is the truth, but try convincing promoters of this... they're all on this whole "no! breaks must be boring and ploddy or badly done attempts at funky breaks!" kick

only thing I noticed is that the acapella you dropped over Wikkidest Wine doesn't really go together with the vocals on Wikkidest Wine

yeah i thought that mix was a wee bit strange but it went of big time in the clubs and thats what counts .im not one for making mixes to the number perfect. If it rips on the dance floor it goes on the tape :D

no offense to the guy, but I find Soma to play the most boring tracks in breaks. every mix.

And he gets booked a lot...wtf.

he's a great guy and he knows all the promoters and has paid all his dues

he also devotes a huge amount of time to his music and to his mixing

plus, enough people think he plays great tunes that he can get booked and bring a following to each event he plays at

job well done, IMO

I personally like my breaks harder and more along the lines of dirty drum'n'bass style, like a lot of what's in Barry here's mix

lately though I've heard some stuff DJ Mutiny's been doing along the lines of funky breaks and it's killer... reminds me of the house style I play, but done to breaks

Yeah Mutiny's funkier stuff is shit hot!!! over here there trying to lable it as "Soul Skool" But i think that sounds wack. Id rather just call it Liquid Breaks as it sounds like slow Liquid DnB. Awsome stuff tho :)

yeah, more or less.

the reson i stoped playing so much DnB is because i felt it was geting to fast and it was losing its groove so the proggresion to heavy breaks was perfect for me.
dont get me wrong i still love and play alot of dnb, but tearout breaks is my main sound these days.
