computer literate people, PLEASE HELP!!!

Okay, so my computer just gave me the blue screen of death and crashed...but I didn't panic because I had saved the essay I was working on. BUT now it's not there!!!!! I don't know what to do. When I go to my folder of essays, it says it's there, but when I actually open it the word doc is blank.

Is it possible to get it back? This essay is due tomorrow and I REALLY don't want to have to rewrite it.
Any advice/help would be appreciated!

do a search with any similar titles

Yeah, this is hella late, but if you were using Word to type it up, it's got it's own built-in recovery. All you had to do was open up Word, and it would ask if you wanted to recover your document. You had to do that while not opening up another document.

If you were using something else, well, I'm sure they have some kind of recovery method, but I'm not so sure how they'd work.

if you are using word then go into your settings and change it to auto save every minute. shouldnt have this problem anymore in the future.

Ha! I totally did. I didn't even lose that much, and I emailed my teacher asking for an extension but then this morning I just sorta spazzed. I blame stress (big time). Lucky for me my teacher is giving me an extension till Monday!
