I have never done yoga, I don't own a mat and I'm quite scared going by myself.

if anyone of you girlies would like to take me under their wing and take me and teach me the ways I would love to try a drop in of the non hot yoga, as i feel i could pass out in the hot yoga if it's my first yoga class.

I am at school monday evenings and usually work til about 5-6 on weekdays.

thanks ?!?!

I have class on Monday at 6pm, so I cannot do the Monday class with you

I also have to be out in either Kerrisdale or Coquitlam on Friday mornings..

what's with these weird schedules! they don't match mine.

with my crazy sched i havent been able to dance/exercise as much but luckily my work has yoga at noon.. and ive fallen in love with a few teachers.

love love love Mara at flow yoga, she targets her practice to beginners-intermediate and does tons of modification poses for each skill level. she seriously kicks ass, her voice is so nice to listen to and she really pushes hard for all levels to try tons of diff poses/stretches: Flow Yoga Vancouver :: Teacher Training, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Hatha, Yin, Primary Series (if you're a real real beginner try out Dans class its really intro and he takes things pretty slow)

If anyone gets a chance to take a class with eion finn or Insiya try it out.. eion teaches power whle Insiya does vinyasa/flow. Both of them have a really popular following in van and they both have a bit of a "cult" following.. its cool to be in their class and see why they're so great. i LOVE Insiya's classes.

we're getting tons of guest teachers.. ill update my experiences soon. but Mara and Insiya are my 2 huge recommendations if you like more of a work out yoga practice. i need a buddy to hit up a hot class... prob yaletown yoga since its so close, whos in?

hey bev, there's an instructor at yaletown who teaches at flow. clara. she's a little kookie, but her classes are pretty fun. she's pretty much one of the most flexible humans on the face of this planet. i'd love to give flow yoga a try, because it's even closer, but it doesn't offer as many classes and my schedule is always all over the place.

there's a new 40 day revolution starting next week at yaletown yoga. i think i'm going to do it.

"40 days and 40 nights. Get ready to transform your whole life, body, mind and soul. Based on Baron Baptiste's book, participants will do a daily yoga practice (minimum 6 per week, with 1 day of active rest), plus daily meditation, a cleansing diet, and weekly self-examination journaling. Commit to your yoga practice for 40 days and see how powerful you can be! Complete it, and your name goes into a draw for a 1 year membership at yaletown yoga!"

anyone else interested? yaletown yoga

^omg so many people at work are doing it. Ill do it when i feel like i can 100% commit. The girls are telling me that technically you should only be doing it 6 times a week max, and you can skip days but do 2 classes another day kind of thing. Definately more a personal development thing. one day one day..

You could still do it on your own, just buy the book and make sure you're doing yoga at least 6x a week (be it at home or a local studio) with one day of active rest....the great part about doing it at the yoga studio is you'll meet lots of other people doing it which is great for motivating and sharing experiences.

I'm still considering, Esi...I'd love to sign up.

Bev... We could get the book and try this! We don't even have to practice together, but atleast check in/support each other. I'm not sure I'm ready to try it right now (and I'd have to examine the cleanse diet... Depending on restrictions or requirements I might not be able to fully participate)... Whatcha think?

ALSO! Bev I was thinking of trying to hit up more harbour classes... But my schedule is tricky (isn't everyone's???)... When I get into a groove (start training to serve this week!) I will let you know what I wanna try and hit up, and you can join me if you're free. Have you done their power yoga? Fuck I need to get my ass in gear.

I'd also be down to get that book and form a little support group for it. There isn't much in the way of yoga out where I am in Port Moody, so I got a few power yoga dvds Nev... And good lord the first few times I did it, I was achey for DAYS. lol. gooooooooo being out of shape!

I believe drop in is $15

all you need is a water bottle, mat, and a towel (bring 2 if you're gonna shower there)- if you don't have a mat you can rent one there, towels too :)

I'm gonna figure out if I can make it prolly around 5 or so, i'll txt you to let you know !
