Also, I love how you can never tell if he's expanding ficticiously upon Biblical history or if the nonsense that he's talking about is genuine. Knowing Stephenson, it's genuine... but it's also so fucking bizarre.

Funny thing is, the two people I'd consult for biblical and historical accuracy both refuse to read this book. One because he thinks it's too trendy and one because she hates cyberpunk.

Post Cyberpunk type stuff. Early 90s, predicts a lot of what Google ended up doing (in fact they borrowed the idea of Google Earth directly from this novel, including its name). Story of a freelance hacker (and part-time pizza delivery boy) who goes around gathering data to be sold on the net ("Metaverse", a VR/Second-Life type thing). He's also the best swordfighter in the world.

The book itself dances in and out of Sumerian mythology, and focuses around a drug that acts as a virus and infects the mind.

Very fucked up and very cool. If you're at all into computer shit Stephenson is beyond worth reading.

holy shit... that actually sounds pretty damn good.. gonna take a look

been a long ass time since anything has caught my attention enough to actually pick up a novel.. usually only do reading when i'm reading a guide or to learn how to do a specific task
