rom what Bungie is saying there will defintely not be a Halo game for the launch of the third Xbox. Basically they figure they don't have enough development time between now and whenever launch date will be set for Xbox Next (that's what they're calling it ATM)

The developers also refuse to rush the game through for a set date, They don't want to release anything short of the best possible game they can. You can't do that with a deadline.

not gonna happen, it wont even be a launch title (90 days after system launch). we're gonna be waiting another 2 years or so after the xbox next specs are final before we have a halo 3, so dont hold your breath.
edit; and expect as much info about halo 3 during development as bungie hooked up for halo 2, almost none. they're keeping their employees quiet, and doing a damn good job of it.
