B.C BEAT BATTLE for hiphop producers

The B.C. BEAT BATTLE.



This competition is open up to Vancouver and area hiphop producers, with the goal of spotlighting the many talented beat-makers our Province has to offer.

Dec 8th to Dec 26th .Sign Up Period.
Dec 26th - Sample Kit is posted.
Jan 15th - Deadline for submissions.

Rules:

- Entrants must be from BC.

- You will be provided with a sample, and drum kit, and perhaps some other sounds

- Outside samples will NOT be allowed! Anyone found using them will be disqualified. We need to make this as fair as possible for everyone! You may however add bass! More specifics will be posted shortly.

- Entries are to be sent to info AT futilityrecords.com, via yousendit.com, a quick and easy way to send files. Files should be 192K or higher MP3s

- All submissions MUST only use the samples provided to make there track/beat. You can however EQ, chop, stretch, filter, distort, reverse, tweak and freak these samples anyway you like! This also includes using common effects like reverb, delay, flanger, phaser etc…

- Submissions must be a minimum of 2 minutes long, and no longer then 3 minutes.

- The initial field of, lets say 20 beats, will be cut down to 5 by the judges, and those 5 can then be voted on by the rest of the board members. Their votes will be weighted against the judges picks to decide an overall winner.

- Any judge that enters the battle CAN NOT vote for themselves.

- You may NOT submit multiple entries. IPs will be checked and anyone submitting more than one beat will be disqualified!

- All beats will be renamed to beat01, beat02 after receipt to ensure the judges don't know who's belongs to who, to prevent any bias.

Judging:
So far, the judges include Kemo (The Rascalz), Neoteric (Futility), Kyle Kraft (Battle Axe), Ackbar (Futility) and Vaughn Oliver (Beatstreet). More to be announced later.
An overall winner and a runner up will be selected.

kinda lame........ their drum kit sounds like shit :( i wish we could use our own.. sounds too computery/synthetic

and the samples arent amazing. now im kinda not stoked on this contest anymore haha. makin beats good is all about likign the samples ur usin and really gettin into the production. If you don't like the sounds.. its hard to get stoked on it. i dno thats just me, maybe after a couple days ill end up makin somethin i like ?

i chopped the shit outta the horns in the sample and it came out really fresh
