The following is an update on Neal. ~ Aka. Candy-Kid

Hey all just wanted to tell ya all how I am doing. It’s been about 3 weeks since I have last talked with everyone and everything that I have known. I have to keep this really short because I don’t have the time to be long winded. I just got 48 hours leave on Friday (19th) and have to go back to work, lock cocked and ready to blow, on Sunday noon. So as you can see it doesn’t leave me much time to fill ya in with all the details.

This will be a very general message that I will be spamming via email and other ways. It would take way too long to try and make a custom email or message for everyone. Sorry.

I haven’t really been doing much. It’s been really easy mentally and physically. This is now the Modern Army. Build for the future, or something trashy like that. Everyone and everything is sooo politically correct it’s hard not to do something without getting in trouble. I have spent the last 3 weeks in a classroom type environment. Sometimes we learn outside or whatever and others is an actually classroom. I’ve been learning about Media Relations, Sexual Harassment and “What if a Nuke goes off”. (Just to warn ya your supposed to DUCK AND COVER) What is this… I honestly thought that it was more like the movies and you have to work hard every day and stuff like that. It gets funnier. We can’t run in our boots because that is bad for our ankles and we don’t do “extreme” exercise because they don’t have time to do that. This isn’t a fat camp they say. Also its normally a 16 week course that is broken into 8 weeks so they have to put and pump out the information so that were a trained MODERN solider. They also can’t swear and call us names like in the old army. E.g. Shit face. Now they call us Lazy Foxes and Idol Crows. That doesn’t bother me in the slightest way but I am glad they that they cant go ape sh!t on people like they used to.

There are a few hard parts about it. Such as getting up at 5-5:30 everyday. But that’s just to see how well you work with little sleep and I understand why they are doing it. Sometimes the pressure to meet deadlines and timings is a bit tricky but nothing that one can’t handle if you have a brother like mine and we fight constantly. Haha just in fun though. Sure you have to get up and the first thing that you do is P.E (actually called PT – Physical Training) it’s not that hard though. You do for walks (because were not allowed to run in our boots if you remember) for about 2k and since I used to walk about 1k to school a day it’s a joke for me. Standing around and just being outside for 12+ hours in the sun really gets on my nerves. I am not saying I don’t like the sun, but when your forces to stay in it, it changes your views. I got this funny looking farmer’s tan now. =(
Sure I can wear sunscreen but it still seems to burn me. I guess I am just one on them people that burn easily. I sleep in a very open and large room with a few people. There are 2 rooms per building and there are 3 building. That is how many people are on my coarse.

In the next 5 or so weeks. (the thing ends around the 28th of Aug.) It will be getting harder I was assured from my boss and other people that have done it before. I hear that it’s more physically demanding and just a bit more challenging. So I’ll see how that goes. So far I am like 3rd best outta the entire place. (Based on weapons tests, physical tests and other things of these nature) so I am sure that I can handle myself no problem. Every week I used to go do to my work (this was before the coarse started) for a year or so… and all they taught me was the stuff that was on this coarse. So I have a heads-up on allot of these guys. Some of them just signed up and went to the coarse. I have been getting ready for nearly a year for this 8 week coarse so as you can tell I am doing to do well.

They say that the hardest thing that will come is sleep deprivation. They will be cutting down or stopping the amount of sleep that we get to see how well we work then they start to bark at us and how well we follow the orders.LOL --- {personally as a “party Kid”}--- I see NO problem with this what so ever. I actually snuck in some caffeine pills and other things to take just incase I need them. So I am ready to go.

I gotta be going back to work in like 6 hours so this has to be the end of this letter.

Just want you all to have a blast at the parties that I have missed and will miss. My friend called me from MM 6 and Rachel was HOT. I really loved it. Made me miss of you guys going off to the music. Take pics and remember the stories, I am still going to want to hear them all and catch up. Just hoping everything is the same when I get back and now all upside down and crazy like. LOL ~ Still can bust it if I need to on the dance floor and more then willing to go off when the time comes when I get back to the real world. Just gotta say thanks again to everyone and everything that has helped me get though this so far and hope that you will continue to support me in the decisions that I have made. Things will be different I know but the world will go on. I am starting to get all misty eyed right now… Just remember to be true to yourself and learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of other that have come before you and the wisdom that can be brought from talking to people. There are some things in this world that you don’t know and its good to better yourself everyday if you can. Happy B Day to everyone that I have missed and I will party with you all again soon.

Be safe and party with your hearts

Love Neal

Good job Neal, man that sounds pretty crazy. But keep it up and as long as you like it and got no problem with it, you'll be back in no time. Can't wait to see you at your first party back. LOL I remember your brother Mark, tell him I say hi, the Turnbull twins, Cascade Heights Elementary School, as much as I like being gorwn up, I kinda miss those days you know.

From your elementary school buddy, Giancarlo aka Guice (Juice)

Peace Out and stay Blazed
