Ride the Shambhala Express!

My roomy and I are planning to avoid the 18+ combined hours of 4 wheel fun to/from Shambles this year. That being said we are in need of 1 (or possibly 2) other companions to join us.

Here is the story;

Flight YVR-Castlegar, $375 each (including tax) both ways
Leaves Vancouver @ 12:30p Friday August 10th
Leaves Castlegar @ 2:00p Monday August 13th
Flight is only 1 hour in air, up/down ride

Rental Car, pickup/dropoff at airport $180 /3 = 60$, each /4 = $45 each
Drive is 30mins to the Salmo River Ranch
*We need to have 25+ year old driver or the rental fees go up $100+

Yeah, thats the cost per person.

Your still going to be paying around $300 in gas ($120/150 gas each way). Granted that goes down based off the number of people sharing the cost. Tack on pit stops.

Think of flying back over the rockies, what FUN!
Plus the whole trip from your house to the party is only like 2-3 hours.

yeah I cant really give up any additional time with work, I could be there and back in the same time frame by driving but lose half of a day in the process. noway!

sorry to burst your bubble myles but u wont be flying over no rockies.. thats a bit further than nelson/castlegar...
plus driving there is half the fun/adventure...

oh and pps. how do you plan on getting all your camping gear from castlegar - nelson.. its still a bit a ways... even getting into the party from the turn off in nelson is a couple of KM.. plus getting there on friday afternoon... your gonna be waiting a loooooong time in the line up... just so you know.

not interested in a long car ride. thats about 10 hours wasted to me, an entire work day. im sure its half the fun but im looking towards the party not the journey. yah yah spare me the relation. I will be backpacking, all items of camping required in pack. car from castlegar/nelson.

I hope you can carry everything you need to be comfortable. If you need someone to take up some extra stuff for you hollar at me. I'll be driving a truck up this year.

My first year I was completely unprepared for the weather... I was lucky that some of the people I was camping with brought extra supplies.

I carpooled with 3 other people and seriously spent about $40 total in gas, round trip. Granted, gas prices were lower then but unless you're driving an H3 or some reasonable facsimile gas guzzler, I don't see people spending more than $75 apiece in a carpool.

But god forbid we think about the environment and carpool. What is this, a hippie party or something?
