Tips for taking driving test.....

So I fucked around till I was in my mid twenty's to get my license. tomorrow is my "N" driver test and Im pretty nervous, Im very confident on the road now and feel that will pass but Im just wondering what they ask you to do and if they try and trick you. will they be asking me what road signs mean while im driving?

any input will help

TJ

Nope, they just sit in the passenger side and watch you drive, give you demerits for any fuckups and tell you where to drive to.

The most common thing to get demerits on is observation. Make sure to always (ALWAYS) do the following:
- shoulder check when turning or changing lanes
- actually turn your head and observe every side street or lane you pass across
- at intersections make sure you look left, center and right BEFORE entering the intersection
- if you can, use an automatic transmission vehicle. You get the same license and using a standard just includes a whole section of demerits you can get. Driving auto (even if you plan on driving stick) just eliminates those problems.
- DON'T go over the limit at all (even by 1k) or it's an auto fail. As insurance, stay at least 5k below the limit.

For every instance that you don't do that, you get demerits. So for instance, if you miss four shoulder checks that's (I think) 20 demerits right there, and I think the limit is either 30 or 40.

YMMV of course. I haven't taken a driver's test in well over a decade, and I never had to worry about graduated licensing. But I don't think the road test will have changed that much.

AFAIK 50 unless otherwise stated for city streets, 80 for highways. School zones are almost always labeled.

come to COMPLETE stops at stop signs, stop for 2 seconds and look around!!! no rolling stops know a few people that failed for not doing this
they will also stop and ask you what are potential hazards, just gotta bullshit for this one say there could be kids playing on the sidewalk around the corner, the sun is bright or the road is wet...stuff like that
they will also make you stop on a hill or down a hill and you have to turn your wheels accordingly and apply your parking brake
just follow all the rules of the road no exceptions and you will pass no problem

before backing up ALWAYS do a 360 look around before starting. even though you're not going forwards, check.

they dinged me for that when i did mine years ago.

oh, and don't try and argue the point either.

they don't use demerits anymore.

you fail a section (left turns, right turns, etc) you fail the whole test.
