I need an easy free data burner for mac osx so I can burn this...

... a simple firmware upgrade..

I've already DL'd it, just need to burn it.

I already tried Express Burn for mac - that didn't do shit (I tried every option it offered (ISO+Joliet, Hybrid, UDF) - I don't know what any of the acronyms mean, I wikipedia'd each of them, but still couldn't figure out which was proper ... I burned each option and inserted the disc into CDJ... "format error" or "disc error" were the only messages I got..

I tried some other ones too, but don't really remember right now.. but if anyone has one that works, or, know for sure of one that will make what I need to work work... please, please, please... let me know.. I'd really REALLY appreciate it... I am so do not have computer know-how..

disk utility burns cd images, it's part of the standard os

what do you mean 'cd images'? Like pics?

I need to burn data to a disc, to upgrade my DN-S3500 from SYS 095 to SYS 099 so my cdj's become more compatible with serato scratch live...

He means if you are trying to burn a disk image which is an exact replica of a CD then you just load the .iso file into disk utility and burn it.

Otherwise you put a blank cd into your computer and when you're prompted about the blank disk you select 'open finder' then drag and drop the files you want burned into the new mounted CD on the left. Click on the CD to ensure your files are listed then click 'burn' in the upper right hand corner.

I thought there was a drag and drop option some how.. thanks for thedetailed steps.. ~ I followed your steps exactly.. was able to burn it.. tried disc in each of my 3500's, but still got the error msg.. "format error" to be exact..
~ I then checked the disc in disk utility under 'first aid' to see if the disc was corrupted or something - nothing wrong there.. am now doing a 'completely' erase disc and will retry just to be sure...

I just noticed that the file is a .bin , that's whats fucking it up I'm assuming, huh.. yes? no?

any other suggestions? anyone?

I tried that burn program... used each of these (HFS+, Mac+PC, HFS) options and none worked ~ I retried the HFS+ with a brand new disc (previously I was just burning/erasing/re-burning to same disc) ~ and I'm still getting the "format error" message..

Thanks for all the effort so far decypher, but it looks like I'll just be getting new cdj's instead .. bugger! (but at the same time... cool! ~ except for the $$$ factor... bugger..)

what exactly are you trying to accomplish? what is the format of file that you're burning to a disk? if you're just burning a data cd, all you need to do is create a burn folder directly in the os and burn. if you're trying to burn a disk image, you need to us disk utility to burn an iso.
