Well for me it's pretty simple, first thing I do when I feel down is cheer myself up by reminding myself on all the good I've done/am set out to do be it in school, social life, work, or on my planet in general.
Then I compare my problems and woes to those of the Earth, and they are puny in comparison. For instance, say you're depressed about a relationship you just got out of, or you got fired from work or something...Now just try to imagine how many kids starved to death today and even right now, and how many people lost a loved one in war, and then think of how if they could get over that and carry on then what you are facing is peanuts. I then challange myself not to be so shallow and let little shit bother me 'cause I know I have it good compared to the many suffering around the world. Works every time. |

Ride my bike up big hills, nothing sorts your head out like that. THe grouse grind is a great thing, too.
Whenever life gets me down, I ride bikes. It's what's keeps me grounded. It's important to have something in your life that you can use to escape. |

On a serious note, sometime I simply like to wallow in my depression so to speak, although to be perfectly honest wih me it could probably be better classified as a "mood" rather than full blown depression...it doesn't paralyze my ability to function in the world or anything, just more like a case of the blues. I just try to remember that there is too much good stuff happening in my life to let it ruin my long term outlook and happiness.
