when politics ruin a tight group of friends

I have been chilling with the same 8-10 peeps for a while. And because we are so close shit comes up often. But peeps start to pick at others faults until it drives them crazy. then they ruin it for everyone else by telling each other to fuck off. its really hard to have a decent conversation that doesn't involve backstabbing schemes.
if this makes sense. any suggestions?
i wanna branch out and look for some new friends but i dunno where to start.

I know how u feel.. just don't spend so much time together, so when you do hang out, you actually have stuff to talk about or things to do.
I find I only notice people's faults when there's nothing else to distract me from them :P

i had a similar situation happen this summer only things
got way way way out of hand and innocent people ended
up being very very hurt. so i just plucked myself out of that
whole circle of crap and started over with new friends. it sucks,
but i would rather it suck than hurt as much as it did then.

If they're just friends, they may be pointing out faults in a playful, ribbing manner.

i agree with you here. well things are gonna change some more. Im off to australia for a month. coming home is gonna be like starting high school all over again.
