Exchange Students???

I was wondering if anyone has been a student abroad?? if so, what are the costs/prereqs roughly? or if anyone has a website to go to..??

i went on a rotary exchange to south africa in 2000-2001 right after i graduated.

It was an amazing time.

Rotary provided the following:

-room
-board
-some tuition
-disscounts on many tours and trips

What my parents and I had to pay for:

-plane ticket there and back (mine had to be open ended)
-any additional trips
-school uniforms
-books
-my phone and internet use
-any clothes, beer, additional food or fun stuff i wanted to buy while away.

after adding it all up it probably cost my family and I about $10,000 buy the end of my year away. As scarey as it sounds after you have accommodations and food paid for all you need to buy is what you need to live for a year. If you think what you spend living in canada for a year you can probably work it out..

$10,000 is not alot for a year!!! I would have to save and pay evrything for myself... im curiouse if its worth/posible to find a fair paying job in south africa? I know your aloud to work 20 hours a week in australia.

unless you can work under the table

you cannot be employed while living over seas on a tourist/study visa

I applied the year i graduated from highschool then left two weeks after my final exams. I wasn't a very academic student i was chosen more on personality and social skiils then grades.
