i've lost a lot of friends over the years, a few different ways. the key thing is,
it's not your fault, because in reality, there is nothing that you could do to change someone's mind. (i'm assuming that it's a suicide?) we tried to change a friends mind once, and he ended up just trying again later and succeeding. so don't feel like you should've done something different. you were a friend, and that's what matters. lament the loss, but have no regrets.

I lost my bestfriend from high school not to long ago, it's tough. But if anythingit makes you stronger, and appreciate the time you did have with them. think of your memories as a revisit from them. It'll lighten your day up.
