[6/10][SEA] HYBRID @ Element Fridays!

Element Fridays presents an evening with...

HYBRID - *DJ SET* featuring Chris Healing & Mike Truman | Distinctive Breaks | www.hybridsoundsystem.com | www.distinctiverecords.com | United Kingdom

Hybrid are a trio of remixers/producers/DJs based in the Welsh city of Swansea: Mike Truman, Chris Healings, and Lee Mullin.

Meeting while going to clubs in the early '90s, the three made their own remixes of recordings, eventually earning assignments from record companies to pursue their hobby professionally. Finally, they were signed to Distinct'ive Records and embarked on making an ambitious first album, Wide Angle, in Moscow.

Hybrid used such talents as singer Julee Cruise and the 90-piece Russian Federal Orchestra. "Finished Symphony," which reached the U.K. singles charts in July 1999, featured the orchestra. It was followed into the charts in September by "If I Survive," featuring Cruise on vocals, and by Wide Angle itself.

Picked up for release in the U.S. by Kinetic (distributed by Reprise, a division of major label Warner Records), Wide Angle was reconfigured for its American appearance in September 2000. The group then served as the opening act on Moby's U.S. tour.

Remix and Additional Production By... has also been a great success. The infamous Hybrid remix of Future Sound of London - 'Papa New Gineau' is on there, delighting fans, along with remixes of tunes such as Moby - 'Bodyrock' and BT - 'Never Gonna Come Back Down'.

DIG-DUG - www.djdig-dug.com | USC Events | Seattle, WA

Making his official debut at a large-scale event on April 20th, 1996 in Portland, OR, Douglas McIntyre (aka Dig-Dug) made an extraordinary first impression. 1997 would be the year that Doug came across his first speed garage record. Gaining inspiration from DJ Czech (Vancouver, BC), who educated him on the genre, Doug was soon led to the unique and clever combination of speed garage and bassline-heavy breaks that became his signature sound. His latest track, “Crowd Control” featuring lyrics by DJ Swamp (currently available on the USC6 compilation CD) is further proof that his extensive technical training and creative ideas set him apart from the rest. The future looks incredibly bright for this DJ/Producer/Sound Engineer.

DEAN LOWDEN - sub/sessions | basic.entertainment | Seattle, WA

Dean Lowden has been droppin’ the cuts for well over seven years. When asked what makes him unique, he replied, “I like my tracks to have the shakes. Synth lines full of analog bass with nonorganic samples.” A true renaissance man, Dean plays whatever is laid in front of him, whether it be dub-step/tech-house/prog-house/nu skool-prog breaks, what have you. “I like to drop on some deep/heavy/broken tracks while keeping complete control over how I dip and bow the energy levels to work with the crowd.” Heavily influenced by artists such as Meat Katie, Lo-Step and Amon Tobin, Dean has played with the likes of Steve Porter, David Hollands and many others. When Dean steps down from the tables, the energy he's created on the dancefloor is something that leaves people screaming for more.
