Tool sucks. Maynard just sings in that same nasally whiny tone for all his songs and doesn't even have a thimbleful of the talent that Patton has.

i remember hearing an album that Mike Patton did fro Tzadik years ago that was all voice. He apparently recorded it on 4-track in his hotels while on tour with Faith No More. Pretty hard on the ears but definitely stretching the limits of what's possible with human vocal cords.

That said, i would not rate him as the best voice in rock. His non-rock work is more where he shines. My vote would go probably to Robert Plant or Jim Morrison. Those are the first ones to pop into my head anyways....
