The worldwide ambassador of dancehall reggae, Sean Paul, is back with "THE TRINITY," the highly anticipated follow-up to his six-million-selling, Grammy-winning breakthrough album, "DUTTY ROCK."

Looking back from this moment in 2005, it's easy to forget that just a few years ago, raw uncut Jamaican dancehall was still considered "underground" music. It's hard to remember a time when hip-hop stars weren't rocking Rasta colors and R&B idols weren't jumping on reggae beats. But that's the way it was just a few years back, before Sean Paul's landmark "DUTTY ROCK" (VP/Atlantic) changed the game.

The music scene just hasn't been the same since Kingston, Jamaica-born Sean Paul Henriques blazed a firestorm of hit tunes - from "Gimme The Light" to "Get Busy" to "Like Glue" - that went straight from the hardcore dancehall audience to the international market with no remix required. Then came Sean's massive duets, "Baby Boy" (with Beyoncé) and "I'm Still In Love With You" (with Sasha), which kept the flame burning bright and swelled the ranks of believers even more. Carrying on the work of dancehall superstars like Yellowman, Shabba Ranks, Super Cat, and Beenie Man in bringing the infectious sound of the Kingston streets to a wider audience, Sean Paul proved once and for all that authentic Jamaican dancehall reggae could be embraced as popular music on a global scale.

Besides containing five smash singles, "DUTTY ROCK" was certified RIAA double-platinum in the United States and sold nearly six million copies worldwide.
In the wake of the album's groundbreaking success, Sean racked up numerous prestigious awards, including the Grammy for Best Reggae Album - redefining the category in the process - along with nominations in the Best Male Rap Solo Performance and Best New Artist categories. He won MTV Europe's Best New Artist Award, while earning MTV Video Music Award and American Music Award nominations. He gathered multiple ASCAP/PRS kudos in pop, R&B, hip-hop, rap, and reggae categories, and earned Source, MOBO, Juno, Much Music, and International Reggae and World Music awards.

Sean Paul represented Jamaica on numerous television programs around the world and became the first reggae artist to appear on the cover of VIBE magazine, dressed in the national colors. He took his explosive live show on the road, rocking stadium-sized venues from Vegas to Ethiopia, and then celebrated by visiting the pyramids of Egypt. The amazing part is that nobody saw it coming, not even Sean himself.

The Latin fan base has had Sean's back from day one, and he's always shown love in return, even releasing a Spanish version of "Punkie" on his last album. Since then, the Spanish-language dancehall hybrid known as reggaetón has become muy caliente on urban radio. "I see reggaetón as just another cousin to reggae music," says Sean, who teamed up with Puerto Rican sensation Daddy Yankee for a track on "THE TRINITY." Sean got to know reggaetón artists like Tego Calderón, Ivy Queen, and Don Omar when they were all coming up in New York's Latin clubs. "I wish them all the best, and I definitely represent with them," he says. "But I'm not gonna change my style for anybody. I'm a dancehall artist all the way."

Meanwhile, his collaborations with The Clipse on the "Grindin'" remix and Busta Rhymes on the remixes for "Make It Clap" and "Gimme The Light" generated plenty of street heat. "Baby Boy," Sean's duet with Beyoncé, shot to the top of the pop charts in November 2003. The following year, it was Sean Paul and Sasha's slow and sexy rub-a-dub classic "I'm Still In Love With You" that became a staple of urban and pop radio. Since then Sean has kept his core audience happy with juggling joints like "Get With It Girl" and "Straight Up." He recently blessed The Neptunes' new single with rap duo The Clipse, and applied his golden touch to the Tony Touch collabo "Ay Ay Ay."

With "We Be Burnin'," the first single from the new album, impacting at radio and video outlets, and with "THE TRINITY" set to drop, Sean Paul is ready to rock the world the only way he knows how to rock it - Dutty style.

"My first album was much more dancehall than anything else," Sean recalls. "No reggae on it, not even a one drop. The second album, "DUTTY ROCK," did kinda blend those three sounds: It sound like dancehall, it sound like reggae, it sound like hip-hop. Now we come back round to this album here. We got the girls tunes, the one drop tunes, the fast kick-up stuff, and just everything… But basically 'THE TRINITY" is a mixture of those three elements. I'll just stick to that. I ain't gonna try and say, 'Okay, I'm gonna have a total R&B track now, or we need to go reggaetón or whatever. In Jamaica we have the real reggae, the real dancehall, which is the roots of hip-hop. So why not just make it run and keep on doing it?"

With Special Guests:

RED 1Red1Music / www.myspace.com/red1music

The Rascalz’s Red 1, Fit, and DJ Kemo have been the stuff of legend since their 1993 debut Really Livin. Over the past thirteen years and five albums, the critically acclaimed Van City crew has helped pioneer Canadian hip-hop. In the process, they have garnered numerous MuchMusic Video Awards, Urban Music Awards, certified Gold records, No. 1 singles on MuchMusic, and Juno Awards (they famously declined a Juno in 1998 to protest the show’s policy, which excluded urban music from the televised broadcast). With their “Northern Touch” anthem, the group united the country’s top talent—including Kardinal, Choclair, Thrust, and Checkmate— propelling hip-hop to the forefront of mainstream culture.

The Rascalz’s community building initiatives are not just limited to music. In 2000, the group became involved with War Child (http://www.warchild.ca/)—a non-profit organization that assists children affected by war—and traveled to Sierra Leone to bear witness to the conditions there.

Known for innovative beats (courtesy of resident producer DJ Kemo), fresh styles, varied subject matter, and a strong presence in Canadian hip-hop, The Rascalz’s name has become synonymous with ground-breaking music.

And now Rascalz member Red 1 is breaking some ground of his own. The Van City MC is poised to drop his much-anticipated solo debut on his own recently founded Killawatt Records, to be distributed by Sony/BMG. He hopes that his Vancouver-based label will expose emerging talent of all genres, from across the country and abroad.

Killawatt’s premier release is Red 1’s solo debut, titled Beg For Nothing. The disc gets its name from the emcee-turned-CEO’s motto for dealing with the Canadian music industry. This sense of determination infuses the entire project, burning the tracks with intensity. And while Beg For Nothing channels Red’s rebellious drive, it also highlights his many other sides. At turns playful, serene, and melancholic, the album’s emotional depth is striking.

Stylistically, Red 1’s smooth flow is at its best, riding the beats with ease. The soundscapes—crafted by Red himself, along with DJ Kemo—are rich and dynamic, drawing on a wide-range of influences, including rock, funk, reggae, and R&B. Balancing scorching club tracks, car bangers, and soulful crib tunes, Beg For Nothing serves up something for everyone.

KANABLISS THA SUPASPLIFF - Kanabliss / www.myspace.com/kanabliss

Kanabliss, born Samuel Pratap, is a west coast vet. If you're not familiar with his music it might be because you've never kicked it in the infamous Eastside of Vancouver, BC. While many know Vancouver for it's 'bud' industry, most don't know the distinction between the Westside and East Van. What's the difference? East Van is the side of town where one in every five houses is a grow-op. East Van might not be recognized for it's Hip-Hop scene yet, but it's definitely known for its cash crop. In the late ninties and early new millennium the west coast life style was losing popularity, but here trunk-rattling sonics, lowriders, spokes and chronic are still the everyday.

Kanabliss has been putting pen to pad since the early ninties. By the age of fourteen he was already rocking shows, but it's not until he met Mark 'Audio Ninja' Ellis that he could really take the next step. Ninja had a studio, but up until that point only had experience with rock bands. Yet, instead of a barrier, the band oriented background would prove essential to Kanabliss' sound. Where other producers sampled funky synths, Ninja played them. While the duo were getting into their groove, Kanabliss was simultaneously cultivating his interest in lowriders. In 1996 he and his brothers .5 Sack and J-Roc founded East Van's first lowrider club, Eastside G Ridez, which was renamed West Coast Kingz in 1998.

Kanabliss has taken note from renown rapper/CEOs Eazy-E and Jay-Z - come into the game with bank. And make no mistake, he's 'bout his business. He and his brothers own and run three urban clothing stores. Their flagship retail space, Eastside Urban Wear specializes in west coast apparel, while Hypnotic is a store strictly for the ladies.

While most rappers try simply to get the biggest name guests, Kanabliss knows his roots and on his debut album Adventures of the Supaspliff he has guest spots from left coast icons Spice 1, Baby Beesh (aka Baby Bash), and even one half of the Dogg Pound, Daz Dillinger. Kanabliss is no stranger to Los Angeles or Las Vegas, and recorded his song with Daz in Cali.

With momentum like that, why slow down? He and his brothers have a video in the can for the cut Fiji Islandaz, have already shot the footage for a video with Daz, and Kanabliss is halfway through a sophomore, The West Coast Dose, that has appearances from Too $hort, Rappin' 4Tay, Crooked I, Dogg Pound and Boo-Ya Tribe. Not to mention he’s working on a collaborative project with Vic Vodka and P-Man (formerly the group CIA). This is an emcee still intent on riding ‘til the wheels fall off.

ZUKIE JOSEPH - NewSlash / www.myspace.com/zukiejoseph

Junior Allen, aka Zukie Joseph, was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica. At an early age he was given the nickname Zukie by a community elder and mentor. Zukie was born on the 24th of February, which makes him Joseph of the twelve tribes of Israel. He is especially proud to be Joseph because two of his favorite and most influential singers, Dennis Brown and Bob Marley are also Josephs.
Zukie Joseph grew up in a family of music lovers, four boys and two girls. His parents constantly played every kind of music in the house; everything from Country and Western, Reggae, Funk, RnB, Soul, Jazz and Classical music. Zukie Joseph believes that his musical diversity stems from his upbringing.

His love for the dancehall started at an age where most kids couldn’t cross the street. He said he was always the youngest youth in the dance, and nine times out of ten he would always get locked out of the house, followed by an ass whipping from his parents in the morning when he got home from a reggae dance. He loves dancehall music, but believes that as he matures musically he tends to prefer Roots Rock Reggae a lot more. His musical inspiration comes from icons such as Otis Redding, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Dennis Brown, Toots Hibbert, Al Green, I-Threes, Diana Ross and Roberta Flack. To name a few!

He came to Canada in 1989 and by 1990 he started singing on a local sound system called Mr. Basie Muzik. Between 1992 and 1994 he was the lead singer of a reggae band called The Messiah. In 1995 Zukie Joseph and three of his ex-band members went to a U-Roy concert and the four-piece band amazed them all. They went home and started P.H.D and once again Zukie Joseph was made lead vocalist. P.H.D was a huge success, they played over a hundred venues and was said to be Vancouver’s No. 1 reggae band. P.H.D was together for three years.

Zukie Joseph has shared the same bill with mega Reggae stars such as Leroy Sibbles, Burning Spear, Justin Hines, the Wailers, Judy Mowatt, Maestro Fresh Wes, and Pablo Moses, Tanto Metro and Devonte, Kirk Davis and Half Pint.
Zukie Joseph presently sings lead and plays percussion with his new band Boom Daddy. They have been together now for over four years, they have two CDs to their credit and they are still playing tuff reggae music and great funk. Even though he is still an active member of Boom Daddy he enjoys his solo career and the musical freedom it brings him. Zukie Joseph writes a new song almost every day and claims he has got no control over this phenomenon. His quest is to fill the world with love through his music and his message is for everyone to be big and bold for tomorrow.

Zukie Joseph released his debut solo album January 2004 entitled It’s About Time. This album could also be called versatility because of its diversity. It has a mixture of Dancehall, Roots Rock Reggae and Hip Hop undertones. Zukie Joseph is truly gifted at his craft, an unstoppable rising star with unlimited potential. We will definitely be hearing a lot about this upcoming Lion!
