It's funny how Evolve did Pink last year, then 6 months later someone did a Pink clubnight (with the same Playboy DJ theme) and there was no complaints. Twisted did Pink this year, and there were no complaints.

I guess because the name of this event has the word "trance" in it, all the FNK hate comes out.

And now that you guys are exchanging messages, you are contacting each other "personally". If what you mean is "privately", then I would balk at that, for the reasons I just mentioned in the first para (interesting discussion about raver politics... isn't this one of the reasons FnK exists?)

Like ebb said, it's not about legality or illegality, it's about class and ettiquite. The good news is that a bit of raver flack is all you have to deal with, as opposed to a lawsuit.

You copped a name for a party that a respected crew has used for a long time, and in turn you end up with a minor net scolding. Were I in your shoes and those of others responsible for naming the show, this'd be pretty much what I'd expect (esp since apparently you "get this every year"!)

The "talking shit" part actually came from Ebbomega, not from Kraig. Ebbomega himself even said people would rather talk shit on the internet instead of actually seeing something happen, and on FNK at least, I'd say that's very true. But as I said a few posts ago, I guarantee that if this show didn't have "trance" in it's name, nobody would notice.

Funniest part is these shows aren't that big on trance these days, they just took the name when "trance" and "techno" were still decently interchangeable.

And I say Grapes hit the nail on the head. We talk shit online because in this type of scenario we have no other way to call out this type of stuff, since they so obviously have this legality stuff under wraps.

We do get a mixed response every year. However, never once have I received ANY complaint from a member of Soundproof. Their attendees and our attendees run in COMPLETELY different circles. In the five years of throwing this and other events with Evolve and Twisted I have never SEEN an advertisement for Soundproof's Trancemission.

The two shows cater to different crowds and I see no reason why they should not be able to coexist and remain independent of each other without forcing one to change its name.

Soundproof's Trancemission parties mainly cater to people who are into psy-trance. Bunch of hippies... Not that there is anything wrong with it. Soundproof has held there own fanbase for years and continue to do so, there is no letting up on there side. The other "trancemission" is now going into its 3rd cycle. And so far nobody has heard of any losses from soundproof. And if there was, we would of heard it from now.

Yeah seriously, in 10 years of partying I don't think I've seen a flyer as well, and if I did, it was very VERY under the radar...
