Hardfloor created a signature sound with Roland’s TB-303 , taking the late 80s acid-house sound to another level and inspiring other producers right up to today. Since their groundbreaking track "Acperience 1" in ‘92, they released over 11 albums and EPs; had their tracks on hundreds of compilations; and have done remixes for Depeche Mode, New Order, Robert Amrani, and Human League to name a few.

Hands down this will be the single biggest underground electronic show in Vancouver this year.

These guys are one of the defining pioneers of "acid" music of the 90s. So ridiculously excited for this show.

yeah, to a lot of people on here who are not familiar with these guys, let me just say that in all my years of going to electronic music shows, their live show here in 1997 has been hands down the BEST show I have seen in Vancouver in terms of music.

In my books, these guys are Gods. If you know them, you are probably one of the people who has already bought their ticket (and we are 1/3 sold out already). If you don't know them, just take my word for it. I seem to know what I am talking about most of the time I think ;-) You will NEVER see me as excited about any other show. Seriously.

Yeah, this man has been at it for a VERY VERY long time and knows a thing or two about dance music. More tid bits to come :-)

it's just that a lot of people are into trends... and electro-house is the big trend right now. I bet if this thread was about Sebastian Leger or Steve Angelo or Eric Pryds, it would be several pages long :0)

BUT: thankfully, Vancouver is FULL of great music fans, as the ticket sales are showing! We sold all the $18 tix a couple of weeks ago, and there are not many $20 tickets remaining either! You can still get some online at ->www.clubzone.com/intimate<- or in stores at Boomtown, BeatStreet, Zulu, Vinyl and Scratch. We will hold a few at the door, they will be very limited and more expensive.

Considering that these guys usually pack 5000 person venues around the world, and Lotus only fits a couple of hundred people, this is definitely going to be a VERY VERY rare treat.

If you have never heard of these guys, just take my word for it. These guys are on my list of top 3 all time electronic music producers, and considering that I listen to a LOT of different kinds of electronic music, and have been at this for a very long time, this is def. saying a lot :-)

/\ heheheheheheheh.... yeah man, I got introduced to Hardfloor by a co-worker back in 1994 when I worked at A&B Sound, and I fell in love immediately. Over the years, I have been to many a shows, and played at quite a few myself, and bought 1000s of records and CDs and music in general, and I have to say, these guys have always remained a favorite of mine. Their original material, their remixes and even their trip-hop side project are all equally awesome.

As for what they are going to play, well, this is a tour for their latest album, so they will be performing (live) songs from it. This is no cheap ass Ableton laptop live set. These guys treval with their signature custom made 303s and other gear. Here is what the setup looks like:

Well, the entire Respect and TB Resuscitation albums and Funalogue EP are worth checking out, and I am also a fan of parts of the Home Run album. Their 2006 "Four Out of Five Aliens Recommend" album also has a few gemms on it :-)

I know what you mean about Electro or house being easy to dance to though. But don't worry, with these guys playing live @ Lotus, there is NO WAY anyone is going to NOT be dancing! :-) trust me on that one. I saw them play here live back in 1997 and I must say it was one of the best live electronic shows I have ever been to.

Honestly, youtube cannot give these guys justice. They are some of the most refined producers in underground EDM culture. The control they have over the admittedly limited sounds they use is unparalleled. If you didn't like what the videos had to offer, download the tracks and listen to them in near-cd quality to hear what I mean.

These guys can make a crowd go nuts just by adding a snare. That's freaking talent.

Eh? I found this to be the weakest cut on their album. Sounded too much like bog-standard German techno and not enough like Hardfloor. I mean, what's the point of these guys regulating their one acid line into the inconsequential background?
