Rank 1

Well, all I can say ids Piet played the best set I've ever seen out of him.. great music all night long. Shame that so few people attended this show, I was dissapointed in the small crowd. Sucks that our scene is in such rough shape that so few people will attend a show of this calibre for such a great price. All in all I had a good night. I danced and had a blast, something I havn't done in a while. As for drinks, I spent over 50 dollars and didn't get buzzed... either drinks were seriously over priced, or I have a serious problem. Not sure about that one, I'll figure it out later. For any one I met, I was the guy with the 'Rank MOTHERFUCKING 1' shirt on.

hope the rest of you had a good time,

Alex

I agree man. Amazing show. But so few get to enjoy it. The scene is in a sad state. Makes me want to move to Europe. Nice shirt by the way, i was the guy with the dark Nike hat.

NoNo! This is what the old schooler refers to as an 'intimate party', which is waaaaay better. ;)

PS: Me suspects not many would go to this because: A. It's a Wednesday night, in September, when people have to work and go to school most of the time in the morning; B. A lot of people feared a night of Airwaves. And who wants to spend a night of standing around waving their hands in the air? That's sooo 2001.

oh so much fun!
probably one of the best parties this year
and the people were really cool. even through there were not many of us, most were having a great time and dancing. i dont think i've seen such portion of people at a club dance before.

ryan, i was sure you'd come! why didnt you? :(

what did he play......... for the lack of a good memory and some alcohol involved, i cant say for sure if piet played awakening, im pretty sure he did. he played airwave tho :D and top gear, as the rush comes *gags* heh and love theme dusk. thats all i can remember right now, but lots of other tunes that i knew.

it was a trance only set, no house, prog or electro, except for the second encore. so that was definately cool, some techier trance, which was good too. he did start off with somewhat proggier trance tho, matthew dekay style but a bit faster.

alex, that was a really cool shirt. i think i saw you with it at dooms last year.

as for tracks I heard.. he definately played awakening, and airwave and beats at rank 1 dot com. Also he played As the rush comes, Shivers, ADvanced... there were more I id'd last night but I can't think of them off the top of my head... I think it was someone else who played blue fear right before piet came on...

I would have loved for more people to be there on a financial note but I like it better when clubs arn't packed. No drink lines, booths to sit in if you want and you usually get to meet the talent when there is only 150ish people at an event.

I don't listen to trance ever. But last night; god! He has wicked tracks.
There was this one track he played around 1:15 am it was kind of electro feeling. I was loving it.

People were going off and dancing the whole time. I am glad that everyone there had a wicked time; well worth all the work put in.

I really wish our scene would pull together. Electronic music will soon be gone in Vancouver at this rate.

I think one promoter pretty much said it best that this summer is probably one of the weirdest season's for throwing events....

I mean christ you guys plastered downtown full of rank1 posters and such all over the place. So your advertising was "there"...., I think what its coming down to today's society is everyone is just to busy... I hope this doesn't hurt much on a financial note... although I can only imagine.... good luck on your next show!

uhhhh a semi-no name dj in vancouver (vancouver has a shit scene.. no one knows anyone else except for tiesto, jokenfold or extremely huge names)

Yes.. Rank 1 is extremely huge... everywhere else but here.

That and the night was held on a weekday. Tickets were insanely cheap.
Vancouver's scene sucks.. I cant wait to see how j00f is going to be next saturday... ?

I was surprised at how low of a turnout it was for Rank 1 despite it being a Wed night and all STILL...How often you gonna see #35 DJ in a upclose/intimate setting like Plaza club?

Anyhow good times last night! Haven't been out in ages so it was nice to catch up with everyone!

Big ups to Jim/Christine/Rhia/Carrie/Kenny/Dan/Nathan! Nice chillin with you guy's last night! :)

i think promoters still should give themselves a big pat on the back for getting out the crowd who truly loves the music. i couldnt be more happier for seeing almost all but a fraction of people dancing and having a blast.

most of the time what you get is people scattered in corners and along the walls and an empty dancefloor.

again, props to the promoters. sorry about the low turn out, but please dont give up now. vancouver needs trance promoters, they all seem to be either retiring, moving on to other things or just leaving the city. so keep on trucking! :)
