  FRIDAY DECEMBER 15 / 2006 @ CYBER NIGHTCLUB FUTURE ROOTS , RYPE & BOODANG PRESENT JUNGLE BELLS XMAS BASH FEATURING NOISIA (NL) VISION / RAM / VIRUS / SUBTITLES / RENEGADE HARDWARE   FIRST TIME IN VANCOUVER!!! Drum & Bass was the game and since their inception Noisia have become the name on the lips of every drum and bass aficionado as ones to watch. Since their innovative, technically precise music was first included as staples of every established Drum & Bass artists’ playlist, Noisia have proven themselves capable of coining material guaranteed to decimate dancefloors worldwide. Thijs de Vlieger, Martijn van Sonderen and Nik Roos are part of a new breed of producers heralding new directions not only for Drum & Bass but many other genres in which they dabble, such as Breaks, House and Downtempo. Having achieved levels of success within certain genres of dance music, now they aim to expand their reach beyond the confines of Drum & Bass and move into producing and engineering music in broader senses. The machine started in earnest when Mayhem of Shadow Law Recordings struck up a friendship through the colossal networking haven that is the internet. His encouragement lead the three to take their music to the next level and become the signature sound Drum & Bass fans know and love today. Tomahawk was their first collaboration with Mayhem and together with Silicon became their first release, dropping on Nerve Recordings in 2003.Since that first release the machine went into overdrive, with Noisia becoming a part of the Subtitles stables and having several major releases under its banner [alongside several high-profile collaborations with Subtitles head honcho TeeBee]. Noisia also count themselves as Renegade Hardware residents, having had both releases on the label [including a remix of the seminal work ‘Messiah’ of Konflict fame] and a DJ slot at all Renegade Hardware events. They count among high-profile artists with whom they have collaborated people such as Calyx and Phace & outfits such as Cause4Concern, Bad Company UK and fellow Dutch compatriots Black Sun Empire. The labels on which they have featured include Moving Shadow [featuring the Block Control EP], Virus Recordings [Endgame and Unveil w/ Phace on the flip], RAM Records [the massive ‘Moonway Renegade' w/ Mayhem], Shogun Audio [Brainstitch w/ Deeper Love on the flip], Obsessions, Shadow Law Recordings and have featured on a Metalheadz CD release. Now Noisia have begun their own record label entitled Vision Recordings to bring their music to the masses. With 3 releases to date [including the stormer 12” Vision 01: ‘The Tide’ with ‘Concussion’ on the flipside, Vision 02: ‘Lost Cause’ w/ TeeBee and ‘Choke’ w/ Mayhem featuring MC Verse on the flip, Vision 03: ‘Bad Dreams’ and ‘Ommissions’ and a cd including ‘The Tide’, ‘Concussion’, ‘Lekker’ and a short documentary] and an emphasis on both style and substance [as can be seen in both the music and artwork accompanying the records], Vision is proving itself to be the label to watch for the freshest, finest Noisia cuts. Recently Noisia have also been extending their body of work by including remixes for artists such as Pendulum and The Freestylers [Painkiller remix available on Against The Grain Records] and Skynet [the massive ‘Carbon Shock’ remix available on Sudden Def ]. They have also had tunes remixed by the likes of Mindscape, Chris.Su and Break. Noisia’s catalogue isn’t limited to the confines of Drum & Bass. The trio had operated under several aliases and released music in other genres before deciding to amalgamate all work under the Noisia banner. These aliases included Hustle Athletics for Breaks, Frizz for House and Drifter for more ambient styles of Drum & Bass. Under the Hustle Athletics name they released an E.P of Breaks on the Love Breaks label including well-known tunes such as Lekker & Fearless Funk. Under the Drifter aliases they have had several releases including the gorgeous ‘She Gives Me Forever’ [out on Timewave Audio with a Matrix remix of Drifter’s ‘Close To Me’ on the flip] and ‘Leola’ [on Horizons Music, with ‘Come True’ on the flip]. Aquasky also picked up a Breaks creation entitled ‘Gutterpump’ for their label Passenger, which has been remixed by Tom Real & The Rogue Element and was released on single 12” in November 2006. Noisia have become more than Drum & Bass princes and as accomplished as they are, still remain with feet firmly on the ground, contemplating all the directions they could turn to next. Easy to adore, difficult to ignore, there is no option but to watch this space and watch them go from strength to strength in whatever they put their hand to. B.TRAITS FORMATION / LTC / FUTURE ROOTS  To simply mix two records can easily be accomplished by almost anyone, but to put the dance floor into a hypnotic state of movement and emotional backlash is an art form all to itself. This art form has not only been admired, but closely studied and refined by Vancouver's youngest female DnB DJ, B Traits. Born and raised in Nelson, B.C., B. Traits discovered her adoration for music at a very early age. It was this love that drew her to the sounds of the underground, constantly pushing her to quench her soul. In search of a creative outlet, B. Traits picked up a turntable and a small pair of headphones and began her journey to pursue her passion for underground music at the age of 16. In 2004, after relocating to Vancouver, BC, B Traits began to make a name for herself as she assaulted dance floors all over the Pacific Northwest. Her emotional persona of chaos and desire, fused with the heavy beats of Drum n Bass has now led her to the vanguard of the underground music community. At the age of only 19, she has played alongside DnBs finest from the shores of the Pacific Northwest, to the streets of Eastern Europe. Currently working with Formation Records, she is slated to release a mix CD with MC Kay entitled Deep Sound, as they combine their talents to form LTC (Ladies Take Control). With her record bag stuffed with plates and headphones blasting conventional thought, B. Traits is taking the world by storm. SLIM PICKINS FUTURE ROOTS / BOODANG / RYPE / MASS DESTRUCTION RECORDS  Deep ties to the world of hip hop , drum & bass and breakbeats led Slims to take his place behind the turntables and since then , there has been no looking back. With over 6 years of dj'ing experience, Slim Pickins has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the global drum and bass movement. This veteran's notorious skills have shared the stage with the full spectrum of jungle's finest talent. From legends Shy Fx, Kenny Ken , Goldie, LTJ Bukem, Dj Zinc , Total Science and Dieselboy, to new school terrors Dj Craze, Dj Rectangle , Dj Dara , Friction, Limewax , Teebee, Evol Intent, RAW , Corrupt Souls, Gremlinz, Psidream, GEIN, TZA, Dj Swamp, Stabba, Rolodex, Pacific, AK1200, Krusha, MC Armanni, MC Sharpness, Mat the Alien, Freaky Flow and Capital J, this soundman has been rocking shows and tearing down dancefloors for years. Armed with deep crates stocked full of an upfront selection of ragga, dark, hard, tech, liquid and classic anthems from years gone by, Slims strives to create a energetic and unique dancefloor vibe. Incorporating mainly reggae , dancehall, hiphop and dubwise influences with a touch of soul, jazz and funk into his performances, SP prides himself on a versatile style that seamlessly blends all styles of drum and bass. BIAS FIXED FRIDAYS / RUFF HOUSE  DJ Bias has been playing out the sounds of Drum n’Bass for 7 years now, whether it be Ragga Jungle, Liquid Funk, or Dancefloor smashers, he is no stranger to mixing all forms of dnb with ease. With his unique style of cuts and flowing quick mixes, if you’ve ever seen Bias perform you know you are in for a special treat. Having started his DJ career in 2002 he was promoting and djing at a night called ‘Intake’ on Thursday’s. Things just didn’t seem to stop for Bias. Since then he has opened for the likes of Zinc, DJ Fresh, Marcus Visionary, Hive, Kenny Ken, Capital J, Slip n’Slide, Ryan Ruckus, DJ Hype, Suv, Subfocus, Chase and Status, played in cites such as Ottawa, Portland, Seattle, and all the way to Scotland, UK, not to mention running one of the hardest hitting Friday nights on the west coast of Canada for almost two years now. Now he has started his own production company called ‘Bias Group’ which is set to bring you more big name talent at bigger and better venues. He has also proud to be a part of Shadow Jugglers, Vancouver’s finest dnb radio show, on 101.9fm/www.citr.ca from 7-9pm on Saturdays with partners MP, Socool $ Termite, for the last two years. Currently working on building a massive sound system, Bias is one cat who is not afraid to push the envelope and never look back!
