im going to write a little review because this was probably one of the best partys ive been to in the last little while.
OK so I had made prior arrangments with John Fleming for him to get me into the party so i could meet up with him and talk about the magazine and stuff. When i got to the door to see if my name was on the list not only was it there but John's manager put +3 beside it. That was a nice un-expected suprise, so i got my 3 friends in for free with me. We sold all our extra tickets, broke even, and i had 1 left over so i gave it to DJDeeb. We got in....first thing i noticed was the sound....it kicked ass. It was really really loud, Whenever i went near the speakers i had to cover my ears because it hurt like hell. Honstly i cant even remember the last time i went to a party and the music caused pain in my ears. The lighting was alright.....nothing to impressive. I dont know how you guys can call the lazers "awsome" When they were doing the same lame pttern all night. Seriously i wanted to slap the lighting guy and tell him to change the patterns up. I mean you got lazers you mid as well make the most of them. When i got in Moda was doing his live PA. It was pretty cool. Lots of original tunes, I didnt pay to much attantion, i was trying to find all my freinds. Next up was steve smooth. This guy is just awsome, Everytime i see him he always puts on an awsome show. Lots of killer bass lines. its to bad he only got 30 mins. Someone needs to bring this guy down for a full 2 hour set. Last time i saw a full set by him was when he opend for 2 hours for bad boy bill at richards. he totally showed up BBB on the decks.....no scrathcing but way better tracks. Bad boy bill was on next, again didnt pay much attention, to busy socializing, From what i heard it sounded pretty good as usual. Ive seen him so many times it wasnt exactly a highlight. Plus im sure he will be back in Vancouver pretty soon. SolarStone had the main headlining spot, his set was alright, uplifting trance all the way. He really didnt look like he was having a good time, I didnt see very much interaction with the crowd his entire set. I might have missed it though. Funny little story; I was standing right upfront watching solarstone and all of a sudden and ENTIRE 6 person "Asian Death Circle" plowed through like 5 people and LANDED right on top of me. Guys it was a fucking dog pile with me at the bottom and all of them on me....NOT A PRETTY SMELL. They all got up didnt say a fucking word of apology to me and went back flailing like maniacs. I will need a lot of time and therapy to get over this nasty little incident.... at around 3am John arrived at the plaza. I met up with him backstage and he introduced me to his north american booking agent. Both of them were really cool. We got some pics and me and my buddy Dan chilled with them for a while walking around the plaza. The best part was when they noticed how everyone was dancing, I remember Johns agent doing a nice little impression of the vancity kickstep....it was a good laugh. At 4:30 John hit the decks, this is what i had been waiting for all night and he didnt let the crowd down. This set was just amazing. Awsome tracks, flawless mixing and even though he was playing when the sun was up he till had tons of interaction with the crowd. He definatly should have had a better timeslot. The crowd was digging his set way more then solarstone's, it would have been awsome to see him with a full crowd and without the sun shining. His set was definatly the best of the year, now lets hope he comes for a 4 hour set at a club...im thinking sonar would be awsome. I recognized the first two tracks and the last two he played and a couple in the middle. 1: Powerplant - With or Without (Blackwatch mix) (what a 1st tune!!) 2: Progressa - Stockholm 9: Area - Definition of tekto (Silvio Ecomo Mix) 10: Nemo - Spacemaker 11: Tiesto - Lethal industry 18: Freeloader - Pure devotion - (Tukan’s F&W mix) 19: Blue Amzone -No other Love(Darren Tate's Remake)(ENCORE) Im suprised i didnt know more but he played really hard and that means tons of psy trance. Those are always a bitch to ID. I was waiting all night for him to play the new remake of "no other love" and he played it as an encore....fucked the crowd right up. after John's set i left. It was an awsome night.....but lots of disturbing sights as usual. God soooooo many people were fucked up, At times i felt like i was the only sober one in the building :trippin: . Ya i know its long but im posting this as my review on Johns magazine "Longitude and Latitude" so i figure i would post it ehre as well. My short and sweet review of the ngiht.
Lights were nice i liked the tunnel lazer that they had going over in the main area. It was a very cool effect to watch. I liked the small battel area for Mr W. and it was soo packed in there! Tazix! You rocked the night! i nearly cried when i heard you drop !TOMCRAFT LONELINES!!!!! This made my night! BAD BOY BILL SUCKED i dunno who this guy thinks he is but i am sure that he thinks hes bigger then everyone. he startee off with noise for like 5 soild mins. I hated this guy and will never pay to go to any party that features him. He was very unprofessional after leaving the stage as well. He didnt play trance or hardhouse more like some scratchy painful noise that seemed to last forever. I thought i would scrach my eyes out if there werent other rooms at this party. btw hard tons of fun with all the people and dispite bad boy bill you guys rocked I guess thats why they call him Bad Boy.. BTW it wasnt the firs time i have seen this guy. |

Just had to add that outta my 4 years of partying i have seen some really so so DJ spin at the plaza main room. But this guy was one of the mian head liners and i felt bad that they would actually pay this guy to spin. I hope that Twisted and Swing Kids and whoever else throws plaza parties or any parties never consideres this guy.

im suprised you havnt heard of BBB in "4 years of partying" He is one of the most talented DJ's in north america.....if not the world. I wasn't too impressed with Bad Boy Bill either, I have seen him before and I was expecting a lot more...
Other than that I had a wicked time. Spent most of my night in the theatre room, just couldn't tear myself away hehe. Sorry I didn't talk to anyone most of the night ... I was feeling pretty plurry hehe. :kimmie: Haven't felt that way in a loooong time! Can't wait for Hyper! Woohoo! Junior - next plaza party you gotta take me treasure hunting with you! I didn't realize how much stuff ravers drop on the floor when they're high hahaha! |

Treasure hunting...Sounds like so much fun bring me along to cause did I ever find a shit load of money that night!:D I would say that has got to be one of the best parties I have been to...From the time we all got into Plaza till about 12 o'clock it really seemed like we were there for only an hour...The night passed by so fast...I busted the whole entire night non-stop... Props to Twisted and Nocturnal for an excellent party...The sound was awesome...The lights were awesome...That party went off... I remember me and a couple friends asked one of the security guards if he would allow us up on the main stage and he allowed us to go in...From that point on I just flailed and couldn't stop and realized I was having the time of my life...All I got to say is I was having so much fun I didn't want that night to end... |
