Utopia!!!

Man was Utopia ever an awesome party!!!
I'm proud to have been the opening DJ on Friday night
everything went excellent and tons of people showed up, the talent was amazing, the stages were set up awesome, and everything seemed to go as planned (minus the minor setbacks that u get with any party)
basically, this party was Canada's version of Burning Man, but less commercialized and probably a hell of a lot more fun!
Who went? What did you think?

Utopia was alright i guess all the stages were pretty much the size of the stages at apex i was expecting a little better production. Another thing i didn't like about that party is that it was really dirty there, can't do much about that but it still sucked the whole place was a big cloud of dust. And the 3 hour drive sure did suck to especially on the way home when we were all sketching.
There were some good parts though, i didn't make it out for friday night so i don't know how that was. But saturday night DIG DUG played a good set and then OLLIE PLE played a dope set right after that. The lack of jungle and d&b on saturday was a dissapointment though but i was so high i may of not even noticed it.
It was a good party though, i'm just bitter.

Oh yea..the heat was brutal especially in the morning.

More fun then Burning Man...that's not even possible -
I don't know that you can compare an outdoor rave party to Burning Man...there's massive differences
But I do wish I had been able to attend Utopia and take today off...But POUND IT! rocked my world - so it's all good :)

I personally had an AWESOME time playing.

My hour and and 45 minute set on Friday at the Teamhardcore stage went off big time! The stage was packed, Clint was saying we had the busiest stage on Friday night until around 1AM which was awesome. And then after my set to have the Vancouver-God of Breaks himself, Czech come up and tell me I played an awesome set and my mixing was awesome meant soooo much to me. Not to mention, a guy out of the crowd came up to me after and handed me a business card and invited me to play at his club at the Sun Peaks resort!

Saturday was fun as well... I got to play another set at around dinner time for an hour and half and then Chipper and Tyler Colins invited me to tag with them for and hour and a half during prime time! -- We rocked it... had a TON of fun behind the decks with those boys and look forward to doing it again.

I want to thank Clint from Teamhardcore for giving me the oppoortunity to play and all those I spun with...

I had lots of fun but at the same time the party had its downsides. Not exactly what I expected.

Farmboys stage had a pretty kewl set up, music was pretty good too. Except for the dancefloor was basically a big dip. AND the huge ditch you had to get passed in complete darkness to get too it. Had a few good buckles. HAHA

Next was the Brat stage.
Papier Mache mushrooms = kewl.
papier Mache mushrooms on dancing guys head = extreme hilarity.
The incline on this stage was just a little much. Didn't spend much time dancing to it but spent lots of time listening to it, for it was basically just left of our campsite. Vinyl ritchie had some of THE worst singers/freestylers(if you can even call them that) ever and I've heard Mr. stoner_b freestyle. Not exactly what I wanted to hear in the morning.

The stage playing all the housey stuff was really good, but no one would stay there long enough with me. :(Next stage to the left was killer! I believe it was the Team Hardcore stage. Just unbelieveable except for the incline and that was the worst for dust by far!

The other two stages I only hit up once or twice. Too far for my influenced state.
Awesome vibe and great people great people regardless of the scorching heat and clouds and clouds of dust. :D

I'm still finding dirt when I blow my nose. :(

Utopia was pretty sweet alot of really cool peeps especially the Island Teamhardcore crew luv those guys and good times with Kraig oh and Greg C was just a gong show what a piece of work but I wasn't much better. The dust was the only drawback that shit gets everywhere but no mosquitoes and some kick ass tunes definitely Dig Dug and Ollie Ple rocked it.Thanks to Dj Jupe and Kerry Wilks(Doubledown)had a blast playing with you guys as always and thanks to Brat and Clint good job boys.

Damn... it was quite a journey, but well worth it! I had a great time playing on the Team Hardcore stage and kickin it with all you dope ass Canadian peeps. It was only my second time in Kamloops, but I can't wait to come back. By the way, if anybody knows how to get ahold of Chris Biggar; I'd like to get in touch with him. He found me while I was playing, but I never saw him again.

Anyways, thanks so much for the support and kind words regarding my set that night. I always have the best time performing in BC. (I got my homey Sir Kutz from Portland hooked on the province now too!!! He actually played on the island with Scissorkicks on Friday and had the time of his life.) So yeah, I thought Ollie (sp?) played really well after I finished. Also was extremely impressed with Vinyl Ritchie. I've heard tons about the guy, but this was my first time up close and personal. I could have done without one of the MC's (the one that sounded like Usher), but regardless, that set was still my favorite of the night.

Thanks soooooooooooooooo much Brat for having me up. And thanks to Clint too, he helped out alot (and came through, once again, with his infamously sick Aritst passes). I'll have new CDs ready for my tour with Brat, which is coming up in about a month, so hit me up when we come through your city.

Thanks Kraig! Good kickin it with you too. Did you see the swarms of moths all over the me and mixer while I was playing? I'm sure it was cause I had them point that light right on the mixer, but you gotta be able to see where your EQ knobs are pointing, right? I've never seen anything like it. At times there were 3 or 4 moths on each turntable, and a couple crawling on my face and the back of my neck. I gotta admit, I had fun with it!

* Glad you were close enough to see the details of the mixes!

^^ Yeah man! -- I played Friday night before you at roughly the same time and I had the same problem! It was REALLY bad because on Friday, they actually had more lights/projectors around that area. The moths would actually land on the middle of the record so while in mid-mix, you had to make sure to blow them off before they hit the needle! The advantage I had, was the mixer they were using was close to the same mixer I have at home so I didn't need the light to know which was which!

Peace.

yeah, "Dig This too!" will be out in about a month. If you were into "Dig This!" you'll have to come check out chapter 2 in the saga. They will be part of an extremely limitted edition run. And just like the old one, the only way to get one will be to catch me live and get one from me personally (or burn a copy of a friends copy, which I highly encourage). No new self produced tracks on it, I'm actually about 2 weeks away from having my studio put back together. But I've got a few different production projects in the works right now. Maybe some white label material, we'll see.
